Arkansas......Razorbacks

I have a big weekend ahead of me. First, I'm off for a weekend trip to Arkansas. Second, well that’s all I have planed; there is no second. But the first one is huge. This Arkansas trip is not your typical- go visit the Fam trip. Oh no, I’m going to watch the Razorbacks play. I haven’t been to a Razorbacks game in 20 years. Actually, being able to say twenty years makes me feel really old. I never imagined the day when I would be able to say I went somewhere twenty years ago. Yea, I probably won’t ever use that phrase again. It kind of depresses me.

Tomorow morning (bright and early) we’re leaving for Fayetteville! We will be among thousands of fans calling the hogs. So today this post is to all the Razorback fans out there! Here’s to you, crazy hog calling folks.

Woooooooooo, Pig ! Sooie!

Woooooooooo, Pig ! Sooie!

Woooooooooo, Pig ! Sooie!

Razorbacks!!

This is my state....

Well, Oklahoma has done it again. We've gotten heaps of national news for something done here in the Heartland. I tell you what, we've been on national news more this year than anytime I can remember. First, it was the crazy winter we had-snow every weekend. Then, we were on the news because of all the rain. AND then we were on the news becuase of all the floods! Now we are on the news because of an angry football coach. Saturday, OSU's head football coach went crazy on a reporter at a news conference. Today, much to my surprise, when I opened MSN I found Coach Gundy on the main page. I guess MSN is behind, because this subject has been the talk of the town since Saturday night. I believe ESPN has been showing the clip for a few days as well. Yesterday another press conference was held and Mr. Gundy said he did not regret the words he said Saturday, but he did regret that he didn't take it farther. Yicks! I'd say he was mad. I'm sure we will be talking about this for the rest of football season. I'm sure America will have moved on to something else, but not Oklahoma. Here in Oklahoma we like to beat things to the ground before we move on to a new subject matter. AHHH...this is my state and I am proud!

Advice...

Blogger World, I need your help. I have been pondering this question for quite some time. I have simply not come up with a suitable answer, therefore I’m reaching out for help. Here’s the question: Where should I go on my next Singles Trip, or SCT as I like to call them? I know you were expecting a different question, maybe something more life shattering?

But I really do need help. I am clueless on where the next SCT will take place. SCT are my single crazy trips I take every year. I reward myself for surviving another year as a single person with an exotic trip. Ok, so they’re not all exotic trips but they are always fun trips. I decided after college that the world is a big place and I wanted to see all of it while being single! I realize you can travel when you are married; but since I’m not, I’m going to take full advantage of my freedom.

Every year around this time I start finalizing plans for my SCT. I usually take my trips in February, cheapest time to travel. But due to going back to school, this year’s 08’ SCT has been postponed until August 08’. I thought a graduation reward and SCT # 5 could be combined, another excuse to make SCT # 5 HUGE!

I have come up with a few ideas but nothing is really sticking me as the perfect SCT. Here are my ideas…
Arizona- Health spa. It’s a spa where you take cooking classes, hikes through mountains, bike on awesome trails, run, do lots of aerobics, and meet other health nuts like myself.
Beijing, China- Summer Olympics. I’ve wanted to go to the Summer Olympics since 2001. I was in Beijing when the Olympics committee announced Beijing would host the 2008’ Summer Olympics. I thought it would be neat to go back to Beijing to see all the renovations that took place for the Olympics.

Two ideas. I’ve only come up with two ideas. See, I need help. Surely, someone out in Blogger World has been on an awesome vacation? Help me out! Blogger World where do you suggest I go this year?

Happy Birthday...

A month ago I announced I would be celebrating my friend’s birthdays on my blog. I came up with this super idea that I would do blog dedications for them. The first friend to have entire post dedicated to her was Suzy. Although, Suzy’s dedication turned more into a singles ad then a dedication, which I’m still taking applicants for dates.

However, today is another birthday. Someone special is celebrating their birthday on this fine fall day. This is an important person in my life, and I’m sure yours as well. I would like to wish a huge happy birthday to the Digital Smiley Face. DSF is turning 25. Wow the DSF is younger than me, but just by one year.

Scott E. Fahlman was the first to use the “smiley face” online. Kudos to you Scott, you have forever changed my online world! Here’s to you Digital Smiley Face, hope you have a great 25th birthday! Today, everyone use : ) in he or she or it's honor.

Ramblings...

I’m going to try something new with Ramblings. I’m going to add pictures. I think it’s a nice touch. Translation: I don't want to do my homework, so I'm doing useless things to occupy my time.

Fall has arrived. It’s been in the 50s when I go to work, and 80s when I leave work. Fall always reminds me of NYC. I have no idea why. When I went to The Big Apple is was 20 degrees, about thirty degrees below my ideal weather conditions.
But it has been nice to have the cooler weather. Really, I can’t complain this has been the best summer. It really wasn’t hot. Speaking of hot, The Farmer’s Almanac is saying next year, 2008’, will be the hottest year of the century. Doesn’t that make you want to jump for joy?

So I’m doing the whole school thing again. Right now I’m taking two classes, one being Finance. Man, I am stupid when it comes to Finance. Last night I was working on my homework and it took me three hours. I spent a good hour searching my Finance book for an example of calculating the price of bonds. When I thought I’d solved the problem I yelled, “I’m a freakin’ genus!” Then about twenty minutes later, I found out I’d done it wrong. It was a real downer.

This weekend I am having a garage sale. I’m following Oprah’s advice. If I have not worn it in a year, it’s being put in the garage sale. There’s a lot I have not worn in a year. I have way too many clothes! I could cloth an African village. It’s shameful for one person to have so many clothes. But to be fair, most of the clothes I am selling I’ve had since high school. High school. I am in my mid-twenties; I believe they have gotten their moneys worth. I have a problem getting rid of clothes. I mean, what if they come back in style. Also they still fit, I don’t want to get rid of something that still fits. See why I have so many clothes. I can’t part with them. But I’m down sizing, and staying down sized. I promise I am!

My company is a new company. Old company sold us + new company buying us = NEW COMPANY! And guess what we decided to bring back? Cookie Tuesday! When I heard of this news I was so excited! For the new readers, Cookie Tuesday is where I get a cookie every Tuesday. It’s actually a huge deal for me, if you can’t tell. Ok, the truth in all this- the cookies are for a weekly meeting. After the meeting we can eat any leftover cookies. My goofy coworker and I just named it Cookie Tuesday, which caught on among other coworkers. But I’m way excited about Cookie Tuesday coming back.

Tomorrw The GREAT State Fair of Oklahoma starts. The Village People will be performing. I’m SO sad I can’t go. If I didn’t have class I would be all over The Village People concert. Who doesn’t want to see old guys sing and dance?

The Return of The Roommate

The Roommate has returned to being The Roommate. I do realize this might be somewhat confusing. I’ve been calling her The Roommate but yet she’s not being living with us for six months. I know it’s weird, but I couldn’t think of a new name for her. Did you want me to call her The ExRoommate? I felt that was harsh. Spell Check does not even acknowledge the word ExRoommate; see Spell Check thinks it’s harsh too! Since no new nickname came to mind and I didn’t want to be mean, I continued to call her The Roommate.
Editor's Note: WOW it took a paragraph to explain why I’ve been calling her The Roommate for the past six months.

A month ago Jamie and I decided to let her back into our adobe. Of course, this did not go without sleepless nights of thought. We had to take a vote, make a pros/cons list, and design a new floor plan for her new furniture. Ok, so maybe we didn’t do any of those things. Maybe… we just sent her an email saying it was cool to move back. Anyway, The Roommate has been moved in for a week, I think. Yes, it’s been about a week. It’s been delightful to have her back. If you read The Roommate’s blog you notice that she wrote a pros list on being back with us. I too would like to put up a pro list of why it’s great to have her back, so here goes….

1. After she left us she bought new furniture, all of her new furniture is now at my place! One of the new pieces is a kitchen table. I love this table. I now sit at the table when I eat, which is often. Also, it’s huge so we can stack it with lots of mail!
2. It’s great having the head of my Dating Committee so close. Right, I didn’t explain this to you guys. The Roommate and I decided that since I don’t have time to date, I need a Dating Committee. The job of the committee will be to meet guys, screen them, and then report back to me. Basically they do all the work and I just go out on the date. It’s a great concept, but we haven’t really tested it out yet. I’m surprised no one else is using the idea of a Dating Committee. You know, I should just write a book with all my great dating advice/tips!
3. My iTunes is back! When I received my iPod for Christmas The Roommate graciously allowed me to put iTunes on her computer. But then she moved and I was without iTunes. Since her arrival I have already purchased four new songs.
4. Jamie and I have another person to try out our recipes. J & I enjoy cooking, but it’s nice to have another person’s opinion.
5. The Wedding Planner. The Roommate has a great selection of DVDs. The Wedding Planner is one of my favorites. I watched it last night.
6. Walking Partner. It’s nice to have my walking partner back. We used to walk all the time. I’m excited for it to be cooler so we can walk.

Look all the great reasons why it’s nice to have her back. I would like to point out that The Roommate only has 5 Pros her list, where I have 6!

Chew on this...

September 5th, is National Cheese Pizza Day! WOO HOOO...I believe we should all celebrate by having a slice of Cheese Pizza. If you are watching your weight might I make a suggestion...I like taking whole wheat pitas and turning them into mini pizzas- put sauce on top of the pita, then place some veggies on top, sprinkle with low-fat cheese and place in the oven until cheese is melted. It's fast, healthy, and GOOD!

Also, the whole month of September is Breakfast Month. I love breakfast foods. Again, I think everyone should celebrate. How could be let Breakfast Month go without a celebration? Here is a healthy suggestion-whole wheat bagel, low fat butter, cin/sugar. It's good!

Summer Goals

If you remember back in June I set summer goals for myself. These were things I wanted to accomplish during the summer months. The goals had to be completed by Labor Day, which was yesterday. Let’s see how I did….

Camping
Hiking- CHECK
Participate in 2 races- CHECK
Go to a Drive-In

Road trip with friends- CHECK

It looks like I completed three out of the five. Oh and if you remember I said that I probably wouldn’t complete the camping goal due to the weather. When I made up the camping side point I was revering to the 100-degree temperatures, not pouring rain.
So really I didn’t complete one of the goals…Drive-In. I guess that’s not awful. I’m bummed that I didn’t get to the drive-in! Ah where did the time go? I guess I can shoot for going to the drive-in during the fall?
