Go Me!

For me, summer is hard to maintain a consistent workout. There's so many distractions to keep me from working out.

It's hot.
I'm tired from vacation.
I need to pack for vacation.
It's hot.

You get what I'm saying. Thank goodness Judy Jazzercise understands there are distractions! This summer I've been working hard to complete Jazzercise's summer challenge.
Last night my partner and I completed our 70th class.
It feels good to accomplish a goal. I plan to celebrate my accomplishment with another Jazzercise class.

In Loving Memory

This weekend I had a shoe death. My favorite summer shoe has gone to Shoe Heaven.

It happened over two days, so it was a slow process. At first, I had hope of a quick recovery. However on Sunday, I realized it was a lost cause.

First, there was an accident.
This is when I thought a quick, 2-3 week, recovery was possible.

What happen next is hard to view. You might want to turn your heads.
I've had these Chacos for 11 years. We've shared so many great memories together.  They've walked all around the world together; keeping my feet comfortable. As my mom always says; you have to take care of your feet because you can't get new ones.  My Chacos took care of my feet! Thank you Chacos, you were good to me.

Friday Night In The Big Town

The Sisters and I had a fun Friday night.

We went to a concert, Raging Idiots.

Do you know them? Raging Idiots is a small band featuring Country Radio DJ Bobby Bones and his producer Eddie. These two tour the country putting on charity concerts. The money from their concerts always go to a local charity. The OKC concert raised money for The Bella Foundation. This is the non-profit Sister #1 used to adopt Pepper and Bodacious.

It was a great time. If you ever have a chance to see Raging Idiots in concert, do it! Here's some pics from the night...

Thanks to The Sisters for a fun night!

July 5k

Last Friday, Sister #1 and I ran a race.
The good news is we finished the race! The time is not important. In fact, I've already forgotten the time because it was so bad.

Around mile 2 I decided running was pointless. I switched over to the power walking approach.

I'm super excited that the professional photographer was able to capture this moment. I look like I'm on a mission for the finish line. Ridiculous! Needless to say, this wasn't my greatest race. It's a good thing I never strive to win these races. The goal is always the same...finish without ending up in the medical tent.

Nailed It!

I took your advice on how to prevent soggy/stale chips. This past Saturday I set up a create your own meal station.

The meal options were tacos or taco salad. I brought all the fixin's. I think it was a hit!

I know mine was delicious!!!

Freezer Meal Society

Last night I went to another meal prep party. I'm all about saving time and good food! If you can put those two things together, you've got me sold!
One of my dear friends hosted this party. I paid her $40 to attend. The money paid for all the spice rubs, spices, and a few other pantry items. Also, my friend emailed everyone a menu, organized grocery list, and instructions on preparing food before the party. Here's the menu:
How good does that sound??? Yummy, if you ask me.

Last night, I showed up with all my groceries ready to prepare 8 meals. Here's my prepping station:

All of the meals feed 4-6 people. Since I'm a party of 1, most days, I ended up making more than 8 meals.

I walked away with about 16 meals. Of course, all meals will provide leftovers for me.

I think this ended up being a great deal. My groceries/supplies cost $100, plus the $40 I paid my friend. $140 for 16 meals is a good deal!!!

I cannot wait to try these delicious meals!!!!

#PrimeDayFail

I'm not much of an Amazon shopper. In fact, I'm not much of an online shopper. However, I do love good bargains. Therefore, when Amazon announced Prime Day I was excited!

Yesterday, Amazon had a huge one day only sale. It was advertised that Prime members would be able to take advantage of awesome deals! Prime Day was going to be the next Black Friday. The deals online would be equal if not better than Black Friday.

All this Prime Day hype had me excited!!! I became a girl with a mission.
Prime Day would be the perfect opportunity to jump start my Christmas shopping.

Yesterday I was ready to shop. First thing in the morning, I checked Amazon's website. After a few minutes of looking at all the bargains I ended up with one purchase.

Now don't get me wrong, this a good deal. Nivea Body Wash is expensive, and I got 3 bottles for the price of one. But these aren't the type of deals I was expecting. In my mind, Black Friday equals cheap electronics. Not at Amazon! Instead, Prime Day ended up being a huge garage sale.

Overall, it was a disappointing shopping experience. Not only were the deals/products lame, but it's obvious I fell for Amazon's huge marketing scam. Frustrating! I have a degree in Marketing!! I know better than this, and yet I fell for Amazon's plan.

The good news is I only fell for half of Anazon's plan. I did not pay $99 to subscribe to Amazon Prime; which was Amazon's main goal. I was just a sucker who wasted time looking for a good deal.

Racecar Woman

Saturday evening I cooked dinner for Canada Travis's pit crew. It wasn't one of my better meals, which was disappointing. I made a Mexican Casserole. Here's a snapshot of the recipe:

Here was the problem. I cooked this right before we left for the racetrack. I removed it from the oven, placed foil on top, and walked out the door. When we arrived to the racetrack, the casserole was still hot but the tortilla chips tasted stale. The tortilla chips I used were not stale. I've come to the conclusion that placing foil over the hot casserole caused the chips to become stale/mushy. My question to Blogger World:

What are some ways I can keep food warm, but not cause it to become mushy or stale? The drive to the racetrack is about an hour.

However, the night wasn't a total loss. I did make awesome brownies.
They were a huge hit as you can see from the picture. Also
, Canada Travis had two good races. He placed 1st and 3rd in his two races!!!!

Letters from Ok Chick

Dear Ariana Grande,
Tough week! You think you hate America now. Wait until you see the aftermath of getting caught yelling it in a donut store. I have two words for you...Dixie Chicks.
Peace,
Ok Chick

Dear Mother Nature,
I can't tell if I should applaud or curse you. On one hand, the cooler summer has been fantastic. On the other hand, please stop with the rain.
Confused,
Ok Chick

Dear United Airlines,
I get it! My router is crap too!!!
Here's to hoping your IT department has better upcoming days.
Love,
Ok Chick

Summer Time

Summer is the perfect time to eat strawberries. If you are like me, you'll eat strawberries with anything. I've been known to put it in my oatmeal and yogurt. The Sisters enjoy strawberries with cake. It could be pound cake, angel food cake, or a box cake mix. The Sisters are smart!

Last night I decided to copy The Sisters.
But I took it a step further. I drizzled this awesomeness on top.
I discovered this in Maine. It's delicious by itself, but it's fantastic with strawberries and pound cake. It was hard to stop eating the delicious treat; VERY hard!!! Trust me!

4th of July

It was another long weekend; which I love! I'm telling you, shorter work weeks are good for the soul.

I had plenty of 4th of July celebrations. There was a BBQ, fireworks, parade, swimming, and a car race. I didn't take many pictures over the weekend, but here's a few:

I had to end with the puppies. We now call them Postcard Puppies. They're always posing for a picture.
