Weekend Update

I had a fantastic weekend. It was full of football, rowing, the zoo, and good food!

Friday
Friday night Sister #2, Canada Travis, and I attended ZooBrew. This is the second year we've attended this fundraiser hosted by the OKC Zoo. It's a great event that supports the OKC Zoo and  local breweries.

Saturday
Canada Travis and I attended the local college's football game.  They were playing the defending champs in their division, and up until Saturday they were undefeated. It was a big game! Sadly, Saturday UCO became defeated.

Saturday Night
Canada Travis and I headed downtown to watch Sister #2 row. She was competing in a Dragon Boat competition.  Her team placed 2nd!

Sunday
After church we enjoyed multiple episodes of West Wing. Blogger World, Netflix is a beautiful thing!  Also, I made Tuscan Chicken and Broccoli Hand Pies for Sunday night dinner.

Confession: mine did not look this pretty.

Fall Favorites

It's finally Fall!!! This is my absolute favorite season of the year, and here's a few reasons why...

1. PUMPKIN
I love to decorate with pumpkins; I love the smell; and I love to cook with pumpkin. Basically, I LOVE PUMPKIN!!!

2. Fall Fashion
In my opinion, the styles are better in the Fall. I'm not for sure why? Maybe it's because we're finally allowed to wear boots?

I want all of these outfits!

3. Football

What do you love about Fall?

Ramblings...

This morning, I read an article about ESPN's Bill Simmons. ESPN has suspended Bill Simmons for three weeks due to the comments he made about the NFL Commissioner and Ray Rice.
If you do not know Bill Simmons, he's my blogging hero. He's the reason I decided to start this crazy blog; and he's the genius behind my Ramblings post. So in his honor, I give you Ramblings...

Today, is Sister #1 and Sister #2's last day at their current job.  The funny thing, The Sisters currently work at the same company. I wonder if the company will make them share a goodbye cookie cake?

I love cookie cakes!

Yesterday, I had carpet cleaners scheduled for 10am. They did not show up at my house until 12:45.  Lucky for me, they gave me plenty of time to call another company to use. I have the new company scheduled for tomorrow morning.

Doesn't this look delicious? It's Tuscan Chicken and Broccoli Hand Pies. I think I'm going to make this for Sunday night dinner. Here's the recipe

Martine Rothblatt, a 59 year old entrepreneur and space lawyer, is the highest paid female executive in America. She made $38 million last year as the CEO of United Therapeutics.  What's a space lawyer? Is it a lawyer that works for NASA? Is it a lawyer hired for astronauts? I can't continue with my Ramblings until I know the definition of a space lawyer. I'm sorry. Please hold.....
According to Wikipedia: Space law is an area of the law that encompasses national and international law governing activities in outer space.
Interesting. I had no idea.

Scandal is back!!! Are you excited? I'm excited! You should be excited!

Folks, I'm Rambled out...

National Women's Health & Fitness Day

Today, September 24th, is National Women's Health & Fitness Day. In honor of Women's Health & Fitness Day I thought I'd post a few health tips.

1. Drink 2 liters of water each day.
2. Exercise 3 times a week.
3. Get plenty of sleep.
4. Eat more greens.
5. Eat breakfast each day.
6. Laugh often.
7. Get outside.
8. Eat fruit more often.

I try to be healthy each day, but it's not always easy. It helps to have family and friends that enjoy exercising as well. I'm lucky to have these people in my life!

People's Climate March

Sunday, over 400,000 people marched through NYC to speak out about the consequences of climate change.

Celebrities and even a former Vice President were among the 400,000 protesters.

My hat is off to everyone who attended the protest. I respect that you feel so strongly about an issue that you are willing to protest and march the streets of NYC. Whether I agree with you or not, I still respect your opinion. For instance, I respect that this lady is against doing frac jobs to help obtain oil and gas from American rock.

I'm sure this lady has no idea that oil is one of the ingredients used to make paint. Possibly, the paint she used for her sign.

Ironic, huh?

Running with Zombies

While visiting Canada Travis this weekend,  I stumbled across a sign advertising a local 5k. I was thrilled beyond belief! The month of September has been one busy month, and I have not signed up for a single race yet. As you know, or maybe you do not know, my goal is to run a race each month. I've already missed one month, so I'm really trying not to miss another month. Since it's getting close to the end of the month time was running out for a September race. Now do you see why I was so excited? I was facing a deadline!!!

So, not only was the race in Canada Travis's town, it was also a Zombie run. How awesome is that? I'll answer the question for you...it's freakin' awesome!!

Here's how the race worked....
At the start line, I was given two flags. Here I am explaining the flags to Canada Travis....
If I finished the race with both flags, I was a survivor. If I finish the race with zero flags, I was infected. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong! Throughout the course, Zombies were given the task of trying to take runner's flags.

I really thought I had this thing in the bag. Canada Travis, Sister #2, and I have watched countless hours of Walking Dead. Surely, all the TV watching will help fight off high school kid zombies.
Blogger World, I'm here to tell you watching countless hours of Walking Dead will NOT help you fight off zombies!  At the end of the race I was given the Infected Medal.

Overall, it was a great race! I had a blast, and I completed a race this month.

Can you relate?

Has this ever happened to you?

You go to the store for one thing. But by the time you reach the register your buggy looks like this....

For all that is holy please tell me I'm not alone!

Sunday after church, I went to Target for milk. I just needed milk.

But it appears I needed much more than milk. Let's take a look at what I purchased on Sunday...

Obviously, I needed Star Wars cups. Lord knows, life would not have gone on without the Star Wars cups!  Also, it looks like I needed two packages of earrings, a white bowl, colored sandwich bags, cake pan, and a coloring book. You never know when the coloring mood is going to strike.
INSERT EYE ROLL *HERE*.  Let's see what else is in there? Oh, I see yogurt. I love yogurt and it was on sale. Therefore, I bought eight yogurts.

As we continue to dissect my buggy, you see I did grab the milk. Sadly, there are many times I completely forget to grab what I need. I hate when that happens.

To be fair, I would like to point out I did buy a few things that are excusable. The face wash and baby wipes. In a few weeks, I'm attending two baby showers. The baby wipes are part of the present. The face wash was on sale and I usually pick up a bottle when it's on sale. So, those things are excusable. However, the rest was unnecessary! Well, except the Star Wars cups and yogurts.

Family Celebration

Saturday night my family celebrated! The Sisters and I all had exciting things to celebrate. Sister #2 and I accepted new jobs, and Sister #1 had exciting news of her own.

Since my family loves to eat, we celebrated with fancy food!!!

Appetizers
It was a tasty platter full of large shrimp, crab cakes, and calamari. There was also a lobster thing. I don't remember the exact name but lobster and cheese was involved.

Main Meals

Sister #2 felt like her hand needed to be in this photo.

Dessert
We had Bread Pudding and Brandy Ice. Both were fantastic!

I'm lucky to have a family that enjoys celebrating the little or big things in life! We all had a great time eating our yummy food.

Garden Party Attire Part II

As you can see, I was dressed very garden party attire for last Saturday's wedding.

Doesn't my dress scream garden party attire?

Doesn't it?

I happen to think we all look pretty great.

Almost too good for these goofballs....

How many pictures does it take....

Saturday was the garden party attire wedding. Canada Travis and I totally looked garden party attire! Sadly, the day was very rainy and chilly; which means no one else wore garden party attire to the wedding. Whatever! I'm over this wedding. The couple should just be happy we showed up and ate their delicious wedding! And I mean, delicious wedding cake!!!

I'm currently waiting on a friend to email me the girls group picture from the wedding. But to tie you over, I have the boys pictures. Blogger World, how many pictures do you think it takes for four grown men to look decent??????

 Six.
It took six pictures. Obviously, none of these pictures are amazing. Even though all of these guys are amazing, they just couldn't get it together for a group picture. We finally gave up and went back to eating our delicious cake.

Garden Party Attire

Saturday, Canada Travis and I are attending a wedding.
Below is a snap shot of the wedding invitation.  Please direct your attention to the suggested wedding attire

What is garden party like attire?

According to some wedding website garden party attire can be defined as:
Garden weddings are usually dressy affairs, but ones for which sequined and beaded dresses are simply too much.

This handy website provided examples. I'm love examples!

All of these people look beautiful! This is how I envision everyone dresses in the Hampton's. However, aren't these outfits a bit summerish? I realize it's still 95 degrees outside, but Saturday it will be September 5th. Blogger World, what does one wear to a garden party attire wedding on September 5th? Feedback is very much appreciated!!!
