Ramblings

I just killed a gnat with my hands. Gross. I have gnat guts on my left hand.

Why do we spell gnat this way? Wouldn't it be easier to spell it n-a-t?

Did you know male gnats often assemble together in large mating swarms, particularly at dusk, called a ghost? It's true, Wikipedia told me.

Ok, I'm done with gnats.

This morning I tried a new drink at Starbucks, Awake Tea. It's too much caffeine. Currently, I have an attention span of a gnat. Alright so maybe I'm not done with ghats.

Guess who I saw at the OKC Memorial Marathon? Tattoo Girl from the Redbud. I can confirm that her tattoo is roses. She has a huge rose on her left shoulder. I wonder why she decided on roses? I should have asked her.

Last night I worked out with my trainer. She made me do 85 lunges. I'm not kidding I did 85 lunges. FYI...my legs and butt hurt really bad.

Remember how I wanted to learn how to fold a fitted sheet? Well now I want to learn how to make homemade cookies without burning them. What is the secret to perfect cookies? I'm really asking.

These ramblings are lame.

My weight loss competition isn't going so well. Yesterday, I weighed and I've gained almost all my weight back. How is this possible? I've barely eaten anything and I ran 13 miles. Don't tell me it's all muscle! This just confirms that to win this competition I will no longer be able to eat. I will live on liquids for the next two months. Hey, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to win $1500! I want to go to the beach!
Disclaimer...I will eat. I'm being dramatic. I basically have to eat every two hours, which could explain why I haven't lost weight.

This weekend I'm attending a Pub Crawl. Do you know what this is? I didn't until last year. I'm on a team of about 12 people, and each team goes to 5 different bars and drinks 5 pitchers of beer at each bar. I hate beer with a passion. I don't plain to drink anything. I just wanted to see what a Pub Crawl was like, so I joined a team. I'm beginning to think it was a dumb idea, and I don't really want to go anymore. Imaginary high five to the person that can give me the best excuse to get out of the Pub Crawl. Heck, I might even send the winner a surprise if they can give me a good excuse. Hey...I'll send the winner homemade cookies! Not my homemade cookies.

Ok, I'm done rambling.

Over and out.

4 Eyes

Blogger World, I'm part of the population that wear glasses. I've been sporting eye wear since I was in second grade. Lord, was I a sight. I wore huge frames and a flower print jumper.

Since 2007, I've been wearing the same frames. They are square red D&G's, and I think they're adorable. However, my adorable frames sit crooked on my face, and they've been this way since 2008. I've gone to my eye doctor numerous times, but they never fix it right. It's annoying, real annoying!

I have made a goal for myself. Today, I will get someone to fix my glasses. TODAY, my frames will sit straight on my face! I know, it's a small goal, but I think it would make a world of difference.

We've got it going on...

We ran....
They cheered....
Awesome race! My dad ran beside me for 10 miles, that's almost 2 hours of togetherness. If you know anything about my dad and I's running relationship you would know that my dad does not run with me, at all. We start together, and then he's waiting on me at the finish line. It's been this way for over 15 years. It works for us.

This year my dad was the hero of the day. He did not train for the race, went to the Thunder game the night before, and still kicked my butt. I've never been more proud!

Also, shout out to the rest of my family. They got up at the butt crack of dawn to watch us run. Is that love or what? My mom did say next year her and my dad are spending the night downtown because she's tried of getting up at 4:30am. Fair enough.

As you can tell, it was a great day! I ran a great race, and that would make anyone feel on top of the world. To help celebrate my hard work I called on my favorite morning folks. Blogger World, feast your eyes on my post run meal...

I never said it was a healthy one.

Friday

Blogger World, we finally made it to Friday! This weekend is Half Marathon Weekend. Sunday I'm running my 5th half marathon. Some of you may not know I'm running a half marathon on Sunday. You're welcome. This year you did not have to endear a thousand post about running. In honor of my half marathon weekend here are the fun things I'll be doing this weekend.....

Movies
The weekend of the half marathon I watch lots of movies. I tell people I'm storing up my energy. I think it's an excuse to be lazy for one whole day! This is one I will be watching. I don't care if it sucks, I haven't seen it and that's what I've picked out to watch.
Pasta
I usually eat pasta Friday night. Doesn't this picture look good?
Water
I will drink so much water this weekend. Saturday, I will be sitting on my couch watching movies and drinking Route 44 waters. I'm serious. I go to Sonic and order a Route 44 water. Every year the folks at Sonic think I've fallen off my rocker.
Bathroom
All the water I will be drinking, will result in 1,257 trips to the bathroom. Is this too much information for a blog? Oh, we're practically family!
Pancakes
This has become my night before run meal. I have about three pancakes with peanut butter! Mmmmm

Sunday....is the race. If you think about me this weekend, say a little pray for me. As always, my goal is to finish the race without ending up in the medical tent.

I have nothing to wear

This morning was rough for me. It started out a normal morning. I woke up on time, and I didn't fall in the shower. I've actually never fallen in the shower, but I guess anything is possible at 5:35am.

No, this morning I couldn't find anything to wear. Guys, right now I know you are rolling your eyes at me. However, this is common for every female. It really is, and you know it's common. But in case you are new to the female world, let me enlighten you on how a female's mind works, in this scenario.

1. We try on an outfit
2. Examine the result
3. Feel that we look fat
4. Say a bad word
5. Throw the outfit on the floor/bed/closet
6. Repeat this process five times

This morning I experienced steps 1-6. FYI...this is not a good way to start your morning.

More Gray?

This morning I discovered more gray hair on my normal size head. I'm not happy. I don't want to pay for coloring my hair.
If you are the soul that is causing me to go gray, could you please step forward? Thank you.

Happy Wednesday!

We are almost to Friday. We are on the downward slope. We can do it Blogger World, the weekend is in sight! Do you feel motivated? Good.

Folks, I really don't have much to say. The only exciting thing that's happened today is I've devoured half of bag of these....
But OK Chick, aren't you trying to win a weight loss competition.

Why yes, I am trying to win a weight loss competition. Today, I failed miserable. But, I'm hungry. I need real food. I need meat! And since I don't have slab of meat lying around my office, the M&Ms will have to do. M&Ms are close enough to meat. What? They are. Oh bite me!

In other worthless news, Glee is coming back to the airwaves tonight. Do you guys watch Glee? It's good. I highly recommend the show. I have two Glee songs on my iPod.
We interrupt this worthless post: I just received word that there are hot fresh cookies in another department.

Worthlessness to be continued.

Over and out.....

Redbud Running Thoughts

Yesterday, I ran a 10K. It took me over an hour to run 6 miles, which is about normal for me. Sorry folks, I'm not a speedy runner. To pass the time during the race, I had many entertaining thoughts. Here are my Redbud Running Thoughts...

I sure hope Sister #1 was smart enough to follow the mass of people running the 5K.
(A few years ago she got lost in a race. No joke)

Dang it lady! Don't stop right in front of me. Geez why are you even up in the front? If you are going to walk GET YOUR BUTT IN THE BACK! Why is this so hard for people? Really why!

I think she was in some of my MBA classes. What is her name? Kristen? No that's not it.

I ran my first mile in 8 minutes. OK Chick, that is way too fast. You better slow down or you will be sucking air at mile 4.

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP....running enemy at 2:00. Pass her, pass her, pass her. Gotta her.

Who made this awesome playlist? Oh, I believe you did OK Chick.

Holy cat fight what is that lady wearing! Orange top with neon green paid shorts. HAHA she looks goofy.

Dang it! Running enemy is back, Where did she come from? Pass her, pass her, pass her!

Is there a new water stop? Why is everyone moving to the right side of the road? There are sprinkles!!! PRAISE JESUS!!! Oh that felt good. Lord, I would like to give a shout out to that family!

Sing with me now...
we want pre-nup. WE WANT PRE-NUP!, yeah

I wonder if they will have yogurt at the finish line?

What in the world is this chick's tattoo? Is that roses? Yup, those are roses. What's the stuff on her shoulder? Dang it, she ran off.

Did she just give me the challenge look? Listen hot pink tank top woman, I will take you down. I know I'm walking but I'm a fast walker. Look at these legs! You want to race? Ok, let's go.
Oh, so you are one of those walkers. The mall walkers. Fine, I'll let you win this time.

Tattoo girl is back. Ok, so we have roses, possibly stars, and what is on the shoulder? A cat? What the crap?

SHUT UP...more sprinklers!

Sweetheart, I need more than half a cup of Powerade. Come on! It's 80 degrees out here. Really? I only get half a cup. I hate you!

I think I'll have scrambled eggs for dinner. Yup eggs with some Laughing Cow Cheese.

Almost done. Last water stop. Oh honey, I'm getting 2 waters. The last water stop cheated me out of Powerade.

I see running enemy up ahead. I wonder if I could catch up to her. Nah, I'm ok.

I see the finish line. I see my family!!! YEAH water awaits me. Another race under my belt.

The way we roll- Part II

Redbud Classic is a great race that takes place every April. It's been around for 28 years, and it's a full weekend event. Saturday morning they start with the bike races- 10/30/50 mile races. Then, Saturday night everyone involved is invited to enjoy (for a fee) some pasta at the pond. Sunday afternoon, the event ends with a 5K, 10K, or 2 mile stroller walk. It's a great event. My dad and I have been participating in the race for over 5 years.

Yesterday at 3:30pm I made a rather snap decision. I decided this year I would bike and run in the Redbud Classic. Normally, my dad and I run the 10K race on Sunday afternoon.

Blogger World, I have never entered a bike race. I don't even own a bike. It's true. I've signed up for a bike race, without owning a bike. Luckily, my father was into biking one summer, and has agreed to let me borrow his bike.

I believe I can do the bike portion of the race. It's only 10 miles. I think I can do 10 miles. I biked 8 for the triathlon. Of course, it was with a stationary bike, but a real bike is like stationary. Right?

Yesterday, R&R and I were texting about this race. He gave me some great advice. I'm assuming it's great advice, I didn't understand the advice he was giving me. He mentioned something about gears? Gears? I really have no clue about biking. I don't even know the course for this race. Lord, there's probably some massive mountains on the course. I can all ready see it and I will be cussing up a storm.

Folks, let's hope the 10 mile bike race is full of moms carrying their small children on the back of their bikes. Also, let's all pray for flat surfaces. Oh yes, flat surfaces!

A few of my favorite things...

Blogger World, I have discovered a manifold of new favorite things. My favorites list changes daily, but never this many changes at one time.

It's crazy folks. CRAZY!

I thought today would be a great day to share my new list. Today, April 7, I give you my new favorite things.

1) Peanut Butter
Ok, so maybe some things don't change. My love for Peanut Butter, being one. However, I just wanted to address TC's latest comment, she seemed concerned. TC, I did go shopping and I did buy some Peanut Butter.

Ok, moving on....

2) Nike Shorts
Great shorts! I have been wearing them to the gym multiple times a week.
I'm tall and those cute Nike shorts that everyone wears, are WAY too short for me. However, these shorts are the perfect length for me.
3) A Million Miles in a Thousand Years.
I'm half way done with this book, and I'm loving every page. It's so good! I bought this book in October, when Donald Miller was in OKC. I forgot I had bought the book, but Sunday I was reminded. While dusting, I saw it on my book shelf and decided it was time to crack open the book. I'm sad I waited so long. Well done Donald Miller!

4) My lunchbox
Blogger World, last week I thought I lost my lunchbox. How do you lose a lunchbox? No idea, but last week I thought it was gone forever. I was in a huge panic. I tore up the whole house looking for the stupid thing. It was a big deal because I didn't have anything to carry my sandwich and carrots! I even called Sister #1 in distress about my missing lunchbox, she bought it for me a few years ago.
THANK GOODNESS, I left it at work and it was waiting for me the next day. Safe and sound in the office refrigerator. But, it made me have a new appreciation for my lunchbox. Heaven forbid, I lose this thing for real!
5) Trader Joe's Blueberry Green Tea
Sister #2 gave me this tea for my birthday. It's amazing. If you don't believe me, ask my Starbucks friends. I've been M.I.A for a couple weeks. Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't called the Police to make sure I'm still alive!

6) Tulips
They are my new favorite flower. They are pretty, and bright, and very spring. Folks, Tulips are just good flowers!

The End! I hope you enjoyed my list. Happy Wednesday!
