Life as an Okie

Folks, I'm coming to you live from a tornado shelter. Yup, OKC is being hit by tornadoes from all directions. The weather folks are going crazy!

Sister #1 and I have been in "hiding" since 4:30 and it's just now 5:30pm. I don't see us leaving soon; despite what Sister #1 hopes. I think she's about over this tornado shelter thing. She's having to entertain Pepper.

Since Sister #1 and are bored we thought we'd share some thoughts during this exciting time. ....

Me: I completely surrounded by fellow bloggers. No joke. I have some beside me, some behind me, and some in the hallway.
Sister #1: I wish I could go outside.
Me: Everyone is eating around me. I'm hungry.
Sister #1: I should have grab human treats instead of dog treats.
Me: Technology is amazing. I'm blogging and watching the news on a big screen.
Sister #1: I wish I could hear the news on the big screen.
Me: Did I attend college with that girl? She looks familiar.
Sister #1: Is anyone else single in this room, or is it just families? Hello? Bueller...
Me: I'm about ready to offer that girl, whom I might have gone to college with, $5 for her Goldfish.
Sister #1: Oh yeah, there's volume. I can hear the news.
Me: "No, Sister #1 we cannot leave the tornado shelter". I really said this sentence, at this exact moment. Like I said, she's over the tornado shelter thing.
Sister #1: I might have to get up. I have developed A.D.D in my old age. Did you bring your brain pills?
Sister #1: Do you realize this is the first time we have ever taken cover?
Me: Huh, I guess you are right?

Alright, Sister #1 talked me into it, we're heading home.

Over and out

My Week in Pictures

As we come to the end of our work week, I thought I'd share the highs and lows of my week with some pictures. I stole the idea from USA Today, or maybe it was MSN. To be honest, I'm not for sure where this idea came from, but I'm going to go with it today.

Coupons. This week I attended a Coupon Swap. It was hosted by my friend KC. She invited myself and few stay at home moms. They wanted the diaper coupons, and I wanted all the Greek Yogurt coupons. It worked out well.

Rain. Now, I will not have to pay to water my flowers and yard for the next few days.

Thunder. This picture says it all. Can I get an Amen? For real!
Staplers. I have two staplers at work. Recently, both have been stolen. I'm mad about this minor office crime. Actually, I'm pissed. Why does someone need to take my stapler? Everyone should have their own stapler. There is no need to come into my office to take my stapler. Justice will be done!
Chocolate Dessert at 8:45pm. Apparantly, I have lost all self control when it comes to food. While watching Thunder, Sister #2 and I shared a dessert that was similar to this picture. Ok, actually it looked nothing like this picture. We were sitting in a bar/restaurant, what do you think the dessert looked like? I'd guess Sister #2 and I were the first people to order dessert since 1999.

Strawberries and Blueberries. Blogger World, Target is having a sale on these wonderful fruits. Every morning I've been eating a big bowl. did you know, blueberries are great brain food. I'm thinking with my brain medicine and blueberries, I should be a top notch employee.

Folks, there you have it...my week in a nutshell.

Ramblings...

Monday night I watched Castle. It was a nail biter, and I don't even bite my nails. The last three seconds of the show had me yelling...shut the front door! Folks, if you are not watching Castle you really need to be watching this show.

In the near futuer I'm going to Nashville, TN. My friend Tara and I are spending a weekend with country's finest musicians. It should be an exciting time.

Do you know who I like in Hollywood? Jennifer Garner. I think we'd be friends. She seems cool, and she likes Farmer's Markets. I don't really know this fact, but from what I've gathered on People.com she seems to like Farmer's Markets.

Currently, I'm trying to talk my parents into a NYC trip during the fall. I'm sure you're wondering why I don't try to get them to go in the summer? Well, I'm estimating it will probably take five months to get my parents to commit. For being such an organized/everything has to be in order freak, I didn't come from super organized everything has to be in order parents.

Today, is my friend DJ's birthday. I know this because of Facebook. Isn't Facebook wonderful? It's handy to know everyone's birthday. I'm bad with birthdays. I know 9 people's birthdays, and two are The Sisters.

Did you know on this day in 1980 Mount St. Helens, in Washington state, erupted after being dormant for 123 years. And also did you know, that on this day in 1971, "Joy to the World", by Three Dog Night, made it to the top of the pop music charts. Who doesn't love this song? Seriously, raise your hand if you don't because I don't know if we can be friends. I'm sure Sister #2 is reading this thinking to herself...who in the crap is Three Dog Night. *Insert Eye Roll Here*

I will end this addition of Ramblings with Three Dog Night. Pay attention Sister #2, this is good music!
Joy to the world
All the boys and girls now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

I'll send you a postcard

Today, I learned something earth shattering.

Today, I learned I have an obscene amount of unused vacation time.

It's 23.4 days to be exact.

What's up with the .4? Why do I have .4 of anything? And while I'm asking all these questions how does one acquire so much vacation time without knowing?

This new information has inspired me to search for a trip. But not just any trip, a fantastic trip! I'm talking discover a new city, shop at H&M, eat great food, thrilling airport excitement trip. Otherwise known as a vacation.
Blogger World, this summer my mission is to research the perfect fall vacation. I'm going with fall because I can usually talk my family into fall trips. And let's face it, I'm running low on the travel partners so I need my family.

Feel free to leave me some ideas for fantastic destinations.

So raise your glass if you are wrong

Saturday, Sister #2 mowed my yard. Isn't she sweet? I was down and out with a neck/back injury and she saved the day. Before Sister #2 started mowing she asked if she could borrow my iPod. Of course, I said yes because I'm a really cool sister.

Sunday I was in Hometown, USA for Mother's Day when Sister #2 and I had the following conversation:

Sister #2: You need some new music on your iPod
Me: Why?
Sister #2: All the music you have is old.
Me: What? I have plenty of newer music on my iPod.
Sister #2: No, you don't. It's all old!

Shut the front door! Did Sister #2 just call me old? Is she doubting my taste in music? I have taste in music. I listen to everything from Classical to Weezer to Jay-Z. Look, I even know how to spell Jay-Z! No I didn't use Google. Ok, maybe I did to check myself but I was right.

I just couldn't believe Sister #2 was saying this to me...my music is old. I mean, sure I might have an MC Hammer or Coolio song on my iPod; but you have to understand, when you run for 2.5 hours you need variety.

Before I left Hometown, USA Sister #2 made me CD with up-to-date music. Folks, I knew all the songs on the CD she gave me. I would say about 5 of them are already on my iPod. I informed her of this information. I felt better about the whole situation. It's nice to know I still got it. Of course, she should have never doubted me. I've always had impeccable taste in music.

God's Country

This week I went on a work trip. I went to God's Country, which means Texas.
Here are a couple things I experienced while in Texas....

1. Yes ma'm
2. Chicken Express
3. Grandy's
4. Homemade Breakfast burritos
5. No WiFi/Phone service
6. Goats
7. Texas Lottery
8. Oil Millionaires
9. Pickups
10. Early mornings

It was a fast work trip. I'm exhausted, and I'm pretty sure it will take me all weekend to recover.
