Wishing everyone a great New Years.

The five things you should know

1. Last night I watched Fast Five. It's seriously a good movie, and I have a thing for Ludacris. I think we'd be friends in real life.
2. I really want to see the new Mission Impossible. Now I agree, Tom Cruise is a bit crazy, but he makes good movies. Also, this summer Sister #2 and I watched all the Mission Impossible movies. It was part of my movie/tv education.
3. Next week I'm going on a trip, and then the next week I'm going on another trip. Folks, single life is great. Don't let anyone tell you different.
4. This morning I woke up craving macaroni and cheese.

5. I had to Google how to spell macaroni.

How to make me smile

It is no secret Paula Deen is my cooking hero. In my opinion, she is a real southern woman. She cooks with butter. She made the term ya'll more tolerable. She believes cream cheese, heavy cream, and oil are staple ingredients for any good recipes. Bottom line....she's a fun, witty, butter cooking machine that makes millions off her recipes. What's not to love about this woman?

Yesterday, my coworkers gave me the best Christmas present. They gave me a Paula Deen recipe book/journal, which I love. However, that's not the cool part. You guys, it is signed by Paula Deen. Not just stamped with her signature. No, it's really signed by her! Hands down...coolest thing!!! Thank you coworkers!!! This is my I love you guys.

It's a Christmas Dinner Party

Sunday I attended a Christmas Dinner Party. My friend Terra hosted the party at her lovely home. Look how cute she had the table set. Blogger World, please take note of the tiny stockings holding the silverware. How cute is that???
Since I'm a huge fan of food I had to document our delicious meal. Everyone brought a side dish, while our host provided ham and dessert. I took corn casserole, green beans, and dip. Yes, I am an overachiever.
As you can it was a great night had by all.

A big thanks to Terra! She was a fantastic host. She even gave us cookies as party favors. I do love party favors, especially edible ones.

The Perfect Travel Purse

For three years I have been on an important mission. I've been on a mission to find the perfect travel purse. My current travel purse is over 10 years old. It's been a great purse but I'm ready/want something new. Blogger World yesterday, I found the perfect travel purse...

Isn't it beautiful? Don't you agree it's the perfect travel purse? It's big, has two types of straps, and it has pockets. It's the perfect travel purse.

I want this purse. I need this purse. Fine, I don't really need this purse. I suppose that statement might be a bit dramatic. But I really want it.

Sadly Blogger World, I did not purchase the perfect travel purse. I had to let it slip through my fingers. You see, I emailed Sister #1 about the perfect purse. I just knew she would be on board. But she was not. Of course, Sister #1 had to get all common sense on me! She started using statements like...it's Christmas, and aren't you going on two trips next month. Dang her and her common sense!!!

Ramblings...

Rambling: tending to depart from the main point or cover a wide range of subjects.
Folks, enjoy your December Ramblings....

If you haven't noticed it's Christmas time. This can only mean one thing, Christmas movies. Here at Cheap Cable World, I have one channel airing Christmas movies, Lifetime. I must say, this year they have had some good movies. The other night I watched one called Recipe for a Perfect Christmas. It was really cute. It was definitely one of those cheesy love Christmas movies, but whatever. I like cheesy love movies.

Melissa Rivers, Joan Rivers daughter, is dating a porn king. Now a couple things come to mind when I read the article. Number one, when did our society start appointing porn king and queens? I mean, was there a vote? Number two, how does one go about introducing their porn king boyfriend to the family? Call me crazy, but I see that introduction being a bit awkward.

Last weekend, I had my work Christmas party. This marked the second year of attending solo. It wasn't bad. Honestly, it wasn't a horrible experience. Well, until the Party Pics lady asked if I wanted a picture by myself. Why would I want a picture by myself? Why?
Blogger World, I swear some day I will have a legit date to my work Christmas party. I'm adding it to my goal list. It will happen someday!

Time Magazine revealed their Person of the Year. This year they have recognized The Protesters. I'm not for sure what else to say about their choice. Congratulations?

While in Canada, I rediscovered a love. NO...wait. I did not rediscover any type of love. Strike that sentence from the record. What I meant to say is I rediscovered my fondness for the cast iron skillet. When I was younger my grandma would fry eggs and bacon in her cast iron skillet every morning. Folks, you have not experienced eggs unless they have been cooked in a cast iron skillet. No sir!

Pioneer Woman will be releasing a new cookbook. Does this woman ever run out of recipes? Good Lord!

Good news with my Fantasy Football league. I'm in first place. Well, my manager and I are in first place. I'm really proud of this accomplishment. It's my first year to play and I'm kicking butt. It's really fun when you win. The best part about all this...I still do not know a thing about the NFL. Zilch!

Friends, I hope you have enjoyed your Ramblings. Until next time...

OH Canada

Folks, I have returned from Canada, which I will refer to as Land of the Poutine. Do you guys know about the Pountine? No? Well, let me show you...
Pountine: fries topped with brown gravy. This is huge in Canada. HUGE!

Blogger World, I'm happy to report back that I had a good time in Canada. I'm going to be honest, I really thought this trip was going to blow. I'm talking, worst trip ever!!! EVER.

You see, I went to visit my friend Travis. We will call him Canada Travis from here on out. I know, not one of my best nicknames. Canada Travis and I met many, many, many years ago at Camp Lu-Jo KISMIF. We were young high school students who got along great. But as we all know, most everyone changes from high school. Hence why I thought the trip would be a complete failure. I mean, what if Canada Travis turned into a freak show? What if I've become a freak show? Thankfully, neither one of us turned into a freak show. Come to find out, we're both pretty normal and still get along pretty well.

Here are some of the highlights from the trip:

Boston Pizza- I found this funny. Boston is not famous for it's pizza. And apparently, no one at Boston Pizza cared to research American Pizza toppings, because shrimp is not a normal pizza topping.

Calgary (downtown)- Some of the best Christmas lights.
West Edmonton Mall-This mall has EVERYTHING. If you want to visit a water park and then go ice skating...this is the place for you. You know my favorite part of the mall? H&M. Oh and the random pirate ship.
Sylvan Lake-Canada Travis's home. He lives on a lake. I felt the best way to see his town was to walk. He was less than thrilled to walk his town for 3 hours, but he was a good sport.

Snow- I conquered my fear of driving in the snow. I drove three times while in Canada, and it snowed every time. It was the weirdest thing.
Well there you have it, the highlights of Canada. Now, I have a stamp in my passport and another country to check off my list.

Q&A with OK Chick

Blogger World, it's been a mighty long time since I have posted on my blog. The last post mentioned Sister #2 and I seeing Footloose. I believe Footloose can now be found at Redbox.

I can tell my absence has you concerned about my well being. You know, with all the comments of concern. Anyway, to ease your mind I decided to do a little Q&A over my whereabouts.

OK Chick, what have you been doing with all your time?
Working. Attending Jazzercise and running lots of miles. Also I've been watching TV.

Could there be a new someone special in your life?
No.

Really?
Really.

Well that is sad. I mean, good for you.
Right. Next question.

How was your Thanksgiving?
It was great. The Sisters, my dad, and I ran a Turkey Trot. It was the first time all of my sisters have ran with me. It was so fun! Sister #1 beat me, barely. After we ran, we ate a great lunch. My mom cooked an amazing lunch for all of us. I contributed by bringing rolls and salad. I know, big help.

Why can't Sister #1 take a decent picture?
No idea. I was wondering the same thing.

And why are you dressed for winter and Sister #2 looks like she's on the beach?
Again, I have no idea. My sisters are weird. Ok, they are not weird. And truth be told, I was burning up during the race. I wore way too many clothes. I had on 8 layers. Ok fine, maybe it was more like 3 layers.

Are you sure there is no one special in your life?
Yup, I'm sure. No one special

Weekend Update

Monday morning, which means the weekend has come and gone. Sad. It went by so quickly. Where did the time go? I thought to spice up everyone's Monday I would post a Weekend Update.

Movie:
Friday night, I decided Sister #2 needed more 80s culture in her life. You know, she missed out on all the great 80's movies. Sure, I've done my part to introduce her to classics like Footloose and Grease, but is that really enough? Friday night I decided we needed to go see the new Footloose and discuss the awesomeness of this 80's icon. Also, I've been dying to see the new Footloose and it was a good excuse to have a movie seat partner. All-in-all the movie was good. I paid $6 for the flick, and I was not disappointed.

Play:
Broadway show Memphis, which is fabulous! I highly recommend this musical to anyone and everyone!

Dinner:
Dinner at Deep Fork Grill, again fabulous. I had a Groupon. I tell you what...Groupons are the best.

Exercise:
My weekend would not be complete without attending 5 Jazzercise classes. Ok, I'm kidding. I only attended 2 classes this weekend.

Blogger World, that is my weekend in a nut shell. Quick and fun...

Bad case of the Mondays

Blogger World, are you experiencing a bad case of the Mondays?

I have found that this helps.
However, if your boss/company is not down with you destroying office equipment, may I suggest this idea.
Leftover Halloween candy is sure to cure any case of the Mondays.

Promise.

November 2

Today, November 2, is National Cookie Monster Day. I don't know about you, but growing up I was more of a Big Bird girl. However, I was a fan of Sesame Street and feel that Cookie Monster deserves to be recognized on his day. It's only fair.

Did you know:
Chocolate chip are Cookie Monster's favorite.

Oatmeal Cookies are his 2nd favorite.

Cookie Monster was created for a General Foods commercial.

David Rudman officially became Cookie Monster in Sesame Street's 2002 season.

Blogger World, I feel that it is very important that we help Cookie Monster celebrate his special day. Please take note of the picture below. My friend Laura, is demonstrating how to celebrate national Cookie Monster Day.

If you do not have these delicious Pumpkin Whoopie Cookies near by, feel free to substitute with another cookie.
Blogger World, happy National Cookie Monster Day. I hope you all celebrate and remember a bit of your childhood.

Oh, and it's also National Deviled Egg Day.
Feel free to celebrate this holiday as well, but not at the same time.

Style by OK Chick

Fall is in the air, and I love it! Have I ever told you that Fall is my favorite season? Oh, I've mentioned that fact. Sorry.

One of the things I love about Fall is the clothes selection. I'm a fan of long sleeve shirts and hoodies. I'm also a big fan of vest. Yup, vest. Here are some of my favorites....

Marshmallow everyday vest...

Sleek running vest....

Stylish work vest...
As you can see, I have a vest for all occasions. Vest are the perfect alternative to a jacket. If you don't want to carry around a jacket, but need a little something to stay warm. You wear a vest. It keeps you warm, but isn't as bulky as a jacket. Unless you are wearing the marshmallow vest. I will admit it is a bit bulky, but it's so cute and it's very warm. SO, everyone go out and enjoy the vest weather!

Chicago

I spent 46 hours in this wonderful city....

If you can not tell from the above picture or the title of this post, my family and I were in Chicago. I'm sad no one in Blogger World guessed Chicago. Bummer. I had a great prize.

Folks, Chicago is an awesome town! I have officially ranked it #4 on my Favorite Places in the Whole Wide World. Sorry Nashville, you've been bumped.

I'll try to get pictures posted in the near future. Sister #2 has some great pictures of the city.
There's also great pictures of the Sisters and I reenacting one of my favorite scenes from a movie...

Ok, maybe not. The Sisters would not be my backup dancers, and a leopard sweater vest is not my best look.

And...she's off

My bags are packed, again.

I'm on vacation, again.

You guess the location?

I'll give you a hint....
I've never been to this town.

To encourage audience participation....
I'll bring the winner back a souvenir.

Good luck!

PS- You know I do not own Louis Vuitton suitcases, right? I clearly cannot afford anything with the famous logo, knock-off included.

California Dreamin'

Last night I left these beautiful sites.....

If you have not been to San Fran, you need to go. The weather is perfect 10 months out of the year and they have great food. The shopping isn't half bad either, but I didn't have time to hit any stores. I was too busy walking the streets, biking Golden Gate Bridge, and visiting Farmer's Markets.

Where in the world is OK Chick?

I'm on vacation.

You guess the location.

Ramblings...

Another month, which means another post with some Ramblings. Enjoy.

This morning I heard an interview with Kim Kardashian. Ryan Seacrest asked Kim her thoughts on moving to OKC if her husband was traded to Thunder. Do you know what her response was to the question? OKC Thunder, is that a real team? Folks, I pray that Kim does not move to OKC. Oklahoma might be in the Midwest, and we might be friendly people. But, we do not tolerate ignorance when it comes to our sports.

Last weekend I went to a play with a fellow blogger. Her and her husband were kind enough to let me tag along. Isn't that sweet? I had a great time hanging out with her in real life. You know, opposed to this fake cyber life.

Weekend Update: I cooked/baked everything on my To Do List. Sadly, I do not have pictures. Calm down, it will be ok. Everyone just use your imagination. You'll be fine. I highly recommend the Pumpkin Biscuits. They were pretty good.

Whole Foods finally decided to come to OKC. Tomorrow is the grand opening. I cannot even imagine the traffic when this place opens. Oklahoma might be one of the fattest cities in the country, but we do enjoy our overpriced health foods!

Sadly, I have no more Ramblings for you. I feel this month's Ramblings are a bit weak. I do apologize.

I love the weekend

It's only Thursday and I am already plotting my weekend. This weekend is the OU/TX football game, which means my state will pretty much shut down for the weekend. I'm not kidding. There is no life outside of OU/TX football. Since nothing else will be taking place this weekend, I'm planning to cook and bake all kinds of delicious foods. I've listed some of things I plan to make this weekend....

Pumpkin Biscuits
Peanut Butter Cheese Ball
Cabbage Stew- my grandma's recipe, sorry she doesn't blog
Skinny Elvis Sandwich
Breakfast Quesadillas

If everything goes to plan I will have an awesome meal every 4 hours. HA! Here's to the weekend and all the calories that will come with it.

I love to run

The month of September I ran a race almost every weekend. It was kind of fun. Well, I thought it was fun. I understand it might not be your cup of tea. Below are pictures from two of the races.

The second race I ran was in Norman, home of the Sooners. I enjoyed this race for the pure fact that we ran through OU's campus and ended on the football field. My running partners for this race were KC along with one of her boys. You can tell Little Man was pumped to be there. I must say Little Man did well on his first 5K. He slept two of the miles.

The third race was Warrior Dash. As you can see from the picture, the aftermath of climbing a mountain, jumping over barbwire, running over cars, and climbing a few walls is a bit muddy.
Did I mention the fire we jumped over at the end?

Oh I know, I am a Rock Star!

I love Fall

It's fall. When fall arrives I start making my favorite Spice Pumpkin Muffins. The recipe is easy. The result is low-fat goodness. Below is the recipe...

The end!

I told you it was easy! It requires 2 ingredients.

Make them, eat them, love them.
