Life as a runner

Sometimes your knee hurts after running 7 miles and walking around a race track.
Sometimes your knee hurts for multiple days, but after two days you decide to ignore the pain and run 2 miles.

Sometimes ignoring the pain, and running two miles, leads to icing your knee at work with a bag of frozen edamame.

Here's to icing and Ibuprofen!!!

Feeling old

Everyone has that moment when you realize your old. It might be because you ach more, or your children do something to remind you you're not 20 anymore. Well, this morning I had my moment.

In OKC, we have an oldies radio station.
They're known for playing music that was popular before I was born.
See, all of these songs were hits before I was placed on this earth. If I'm in the mood for The Beach Boys or The Beatles I turn to 92.5. This is how it's always been!!!

This morning, on the way to work, I heard Paula Abdul being played on this channel. None of Paula's songs are oldies. None!!! Her songs were popular when I was in elementary school.

Since Paula was being played on the oldies channel, I could only assume it's because it's her birthday. Right? So, I waited until the end of the song to hear if anything was mentioned. Nothing. No comment was made!! They're just playing one of her hits. It's not her birthday!!!

Awww...when Paula Abdul was played on the oldies radio station is the moment I knew I was old.

Weekend Update

This past weekend was my birthday. It was a great weekend. Here are a couple pictures from my weekend. I'm warning you now, most of the pictures are of food.

Canada Travis cooked me multiple meals and bought me a cookie cake.

My family went beyond themselves for a fantastic feast!
Everything I had over the weekend was delicious which is why I had to do this Saturday morning...
It was a good birthday weekend. I'm lucky to have so many people who like to help me celebrate. Including these crazy cats...

My aunt and uncle sent me a birthday selfie. I thought it was pretty great!

Here's to another year of life!!!

Training

Blogger World, meet my Uncle Taylor...
Recently, he's started running. Earlier this month he ran his first 10k. He had a fantastic race time, and enjoyed every second of the race. He had so much fun running a 10k, he's decided to run his first half marathon here in OKC.

I'm  so excited to have a half marathon buddy!!!! It's nice to have someone to share my training runs/times with and for that person to care. Training with a buddy is great, it's a motivator!! Even though we do not live near each other, we still communicate about our training. Lord knows my family is supportive, but they do not want to hear about every run. Seriously, they don't!!

So here's to the last month of half of training. May the running force be with us.

A few facts on St. Patrick's Day

It's St. Patrick's Day. I hope you're wearing green today. I'm wearing the only green work shirt I own. Green is not a popular color in my wardrobe.

I thought to celebrate St. Patrick's Day here on This is my world, I'd post a few facts about this holiday.

1. On this holiday is customary to wear shamrocks and/or green clothing. This is because St. Patrick is said to use shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish. We wear the color green because the color green has been associated with Ireland since 1640.

2. One of the longest running and largest St. Patrick's Day parades in North America occurs in Montreal. The parade has been held annually since 1824.

Two facts for you to use today. I hope everyone has a great St. Patrick's Day!

What would you do?

This is the refrigerator on my floor at work. It stinks! You can smell the refrigerator from the first floor; I'm on the second floor.

Everyday I bring my lunch to work. I store my lunch in a cute lunchbox; which I place in the above refrigerator each morning. A month ago, I noticed my lunchbox was starting to stink. It stinks so bad, I've started washing it every weekend.

So here's the thing, I'm tired of my lunchbox stinking! I'm tired of my work refrigerator stinking! It's gross!! At my old job, when the refrigerator smell would get bad, volunteers would clean out the refrigerator. It does not appear volunteers clean out this refrigerator. My question to you, do I start this tradition? Do I clean out the refrigerator?

Happy Napping Day

Today, March 10th, is National Napping Day. Did you know naps are good for you? True, webmd told me. You know everything on the Internet is true, right?

The length of your nap matters. Here's the breakdown:

20 minute power nap- good for alertness and learning motor skills.
30-60- good for boosting memory.
60-90- plays a key role in making new connections in the brain.

Hopefully, the above information will help you determine the length of your nap.
Happy napping everyone!

My favorite things

Here's some of my favorite things. Love them or hate them...

Spiced Pumpkin Candle
My aunt bought me a Spiced Pumpkin candle for Christmas. I loved the candle!!  I loved it so much, that on Sunday it ran out. I was upset. Yesterday, I received a package on my doorstep. Canada Travis had sent me a new candle. Awwww...

Fancy Soap
My friend KC introduced me to this stuff. Not only does it smell good, it doesn't dry out my hands.

Family Runs
I'm so proud of my family for running last weekend. Here's the group after completing the 5k!
Awesome job to my uncle and cousin for completing the 10k.
I've never been more proud of my family! I love hearing about their races and can't wait to join them!

There you have it, some of my favorite things!
