5 Hours Later....

I met Pioneer Woman. Yup, Cool Coworker and I stood in line for 5 hours to meet the famous blogger. I know, call me crazy, or maybe a stalker...not for sure on that one. The time went by semi-fast, with some distractions for the crowd. First, we were distracted by the two punk daughters. They walked around and signed a few books. Then we were distracted by this...HELLO! Blogger World, he really is a good looking man! The pictures do not do this man justice. When he came out to sign books, you better believe pens and books were thrown at him! I even had him sign my book! He was very nice to sign books and chat with people waiting in line. I believe he signed pretty much everyone's cookbook. The third distraction was another punk. This little punk went around signing everyone's book. He didn't even ask if you wanted him to sign your cookbook, he just took your pen and started signing. It was cute.

After 5 hours of waiting and chatting with the whole family, I feel that PW and I are BFFs. I expect my invitation to the lodge will arrive any day now. Also, I'm 100% sure she's planning to set me up with Cowboy Josh. Don't be jealous!

The Winner

Blogger World, I found the picture The Sisters and I are giving our parents for Christmas. I say it's very fitting with my parents Arkansas roots.

Yes, that's The Sisters and I with our chickens. Sister #1 is wearing white and Sister #2 is dressed in blue. Don't be jealous of how cool we look! And yes, it's completely normal for us to be squatting in our prom dresses holding our chickens.

My friend P-Dub

Tomorrow I'm meeting my friend Pioneer Woman. Ok, so maybe she's not MY friend. Maybe I just stalk...I mean read her blog enough for us to be considered friends. Of course, it's a one sided friendship, me doing all the work. But whatever.

So today, I'm posting 5 reasons why I want to be Pioneer Woman.

1. She cooks really good stuff....
I haven't cooked anything of hers, but it looks so good. There are days I'll look at her blog and then go eat a gallon of ice cream because I'm so hungry. Ok, maybe not. But it does make me hungry.

2. This is her pantry at the lodge...
Folks, I would kill for this pantry. Heck, I'd kill for my own lodge. But come on, how cool is this pantry? Hello, she has one of those library latter things in the pantry.

3. She calls her four children punks, and DHS doesn't care.

4. She married a hot cowboy....

5. She is a world famous blogger!
Her last cooking post had over 35,000 comments. 35,000! I'm pumped if 5 people comment on my blog. I can't imagine if 35,000 commented. I might wet my pants.

Sweet Corn Yellow, Healthy Holiday Meltdown, and Peter Brady

I was working on a project when a new email appeared in my inbox. It was from Bone. You haven't been blogging five times a week lately. Is everything OK? To answer his question, yes everything is ok. Bone, Thank you for the concern. It touches my heart that you are concerned. Well, either that or you are bored at work and need something to read.

Last week I did not have much to say to the Blogger World. Mostly, because nothing was going on in my life. Well, I wouldn't say "nothing" just nothing blog worthy. Last week was the week after vacation. I hate the week after vacation. It's always depressing. You have to go back to work, start working out again, eating normal, and deal with real world issues. No fun! But I feel that I made the transition pretty well. With all that said, I guess a few blog worthy things did take place last week.

Blog worthy event #1
My abode is going through a huge transformation. Think Extreme Home Makeover meets TLC's Trading Spaces. So far, I've been pleased with all the results. I started out in the living room. It was painted Sweet Corn Yellow. Then I moved to the kitchen and painted the ceiling red, to match the rest of my painted kitchen. Today, my home office was painted Ocean Blue. I like the ocean so much I felt I needed a room to match. You can do that when you are single.
The changes have been super easy on me. I pick up the phone to call my painter ladies, they come paint, and I go home at lunch to pay them. Easy. I highly recommend this form of paintING opposed to doing it yourself.

Blog worthy event #2
Friday night, my friend OK Dude came over for dinner. I cooked street tacos. This was a made up recipe. It was inspired by a street vendor in Portland. Of course, I did not eat at a street cart in Portland, because my mom refused. It had something to do with fixing her food with the same hand that took the money. Whatever. (Insert eye roll *here*) Anyway, I saw a picture on the internet, and imagined what I could put in the tacos to make them good. Thank heavens this made up recipe turned out good.

Blog worthy event #3
Last week was week #3 for Healthy Holiday Meltdown at Jazzercise. Leave it to Jazzercise to have a boot camp/ diet camp for the upcoming holiday season. Their motto is "lose the weight before you gain it this holiday" or something like that. So far, I cannot see any results. I've been attending two strength training classes a week; and this is on top of my normal 6 aerobic classes a week. Also, I'm not sore after my two strength training sessions. A few years ago, when I did Booty Boot Camp, every muscle hurt. Not this time. I'm going to be pissed if in December I'm not toned.

Blog worth event #4
Saturday morning I woke up with a scratchy throat and snot lodged in the back of my throat. Awesome. Sunday, I woke up barely able to talk. Today, my voice sounds like Peter Brady. You know, the episode where he's trying to sing and his voice keeps cracking? Yup, that's me. I really should be at home in bed.

I suppose that was all the blog worthy events from last week. Tune in next week when I discuss purchasing Billy Joel tickets.

Shes been living in her uptown world

I have a huge announcement. Please, pay attention. Are you listening?

Next month Billy Joel and Elton John are coming to OKC for a concert! Don't roll your eyes at me. This is huge and I will not miss out! You see, B&E came to OKC a few years ago, but I did not go to the concert because I was too cheap. This time, I am not missing out. A small fact about OK Chick: Billy Joel sings two of her all time favorite songs; Uptown Girl and We Didn't Start the Fire. I LOVE those songs. Anyway, you can bet your bottom that on Nov 25th, I will be in the Ford Center rocking out to Billy Joel.

By the way, I am now taking applications for people to sit by me at the concert-aka friends. If you are not for sure if you meet the Friend Criteria please review this post. Thanks!

You decide...

This year for Christmas, The Sisters and I are giving our parents pictures. We haven't had professional pictures taken in many years, and thought it would be a nice surprise for our parents. Since my parents do not read my blog I thought I'd have my blogger friends help us decide on the best pictures. Let us know which ones you like....

Thanks, I knew I could count on you guys!

Come fly with me...

These are a few of my favorite things....

I haven't done one of these post in awhile. Actually, it's been pretty slow here on...This is my World. Sorry, stuff came up. Not important stuff, but just normal everyday stuff. The- paying the bills, cleaning the house, packing for Portland, buying groceries, photo shoot in Guthrie, and working- stuff. You know, stuff. Anyway, here are my new favorite things. Love them, hate them...

1) Black Pentel EngerGel Pen.
Recently, I discovered this pen crammed in the back of my desk. I started using it and haven't put it down since. I'm one of these people that like a certain pen and use it until it runs out. And then I go buy the same one, until I find a new favorite pen. I know, I know...it's weird and a mean cycle. I blame it on my mom's kindergarten gene she passed to me. She likes pens too, and socks. She really likes socks.
2) Closet Cooking
I discovered this blog randomly, as I discover all blogs. Now, I read it everyday. I enjoy reading what Mr. Closet Cooking cooked for dinner. It appears he makes the most wonderful dishes. This picture is his Pumpkin Butter. I made it two weeks ago, and it was SO good. I highly recommend it on biscuits or scones; or just straight out of the Tupperware. Whatever.
3) The Lost Symbol
I'm in the process of reading the new Dan Brown book. So far, it's great.
4) Castle
I love this ABC show. Last year The Cousin, Sister #1, and I became huge fans. I recommend everyone become fans. It comes on after Dancing with the Stars on Monday night. SO, after you watch Donnie Osmond attempt to dance, stayed tuned for Castle. Trust me...Castle is cute.
5) Daylight Donuts
I only added this to the list because I want one and I'm being strong. Doesn't that cream filled one look good, or maybe you are a bear claw type of girl? I personally like Long Johns, but only the chocolate ones. Oh, and I really like Donut Holes.

Bananas

It's not often I'm jealous of someone from the Hollywood scene. To be honest, I think most people in Hollywood are nutcases. I know you agree? But Rachel Zoe, one of my many friends from Bravo World, is someone I might be a tiny bit jealous of; and someone I would maybe want to spend a day in her shoes. Her very expensive shoes. Oh and can I carry one of her purses, and wear one of her necklaces from her personal jewelry collection? I mean, if I could walk around in her shoes for a day.

If you are not familiar with Rachel Zoe let me give you some background info. She's is a stylist for famous peeps, and has her own business in Hollywood. I think it's in Hollywood? Anyway, her show on Bravo is fascinating. Yes, I just said a Bravo show is fascinating. On the show we follow Rachel and her staff as they dress famous people for photo shoots, Oscars, parties, or whenever they want/need new clothes...like Liv Tyler did one episode. Seriously, Liv just came in and picked up new clothes that Rachel had picked out for her. SO COOL!

Last night on the show Rachel Zoe and part of her staff went to Paris for Paris Fashion Week. Confession: I did not even know Paris had a fashion week. So not only does RZ go to Paris for Fashion Week she also sits front row at the shows, shops at really nice stores (where she actually purchases things), and then gives her assistant Brad a raise so he would buy a coat. HELLO! I need a boss that will take me to Paris, let me stay in an awesome hotel, and then give me a raise so I will buy the perfect trench coat! Where can I sign up?

Rachel Zoe, if you are reading my blog, because I just signed up on your website and I know you will be tracking me. I would like to work for you. I'll even work for free...if you take me to Paris next year.

Weekend Update

Folks, the long lost Weekend Update is back! It's been three months since I've done one of these. I don't know why it's been so long. I've been doing stuff on the weekend; maybe not interesting stuff...but stuff.

Friday
This weekend was a huge accomplishment weekend-I tackled my To Do List. Since I had been all sicky with allergies last week, I decided to skip on aerobics for the WHOLE weekend. During the week, every time I attended an aerobics class I was getting sick to my stomach. Fridays I do three aerobics classes in my free afternoon. If I couldn't make it through one class, the odds that I could stick it out for three were pretty slim. Therefore, my free Friday afternoon was spent running errands. Fun times! But I did knock out a lot of things that needed to be done. I purchased 2 new tires, finished all my laundry, watched Oprah, and bought gas. I know that doesn't seem like a lot of things, but it was.

Saturday
I finished everything on To Do List. The first priority was my flu shot. My mission was accomplished by 11:30am, and I was able to find a place that did it for free- CVS. The rest of the day was spent cleaning and watching my favorite people from Bravo. I spent entirely too much time watching my favorite shows on Bravo. I know this because I still have Don't Be Tardy for the Party stuck in my head.

Sunday
I spent most of Sunday moving furniture and taking down pictures in my living room. You see, today my living room is being painted. Yup, I'm so lazy that I'm hiring people to come paint my living room. Ok, so I'm not a lazy person. I just absolutely HATE to paint- HATE IT! After I was done with that fun chore I was off to hear a semi-famous author speak. Last night the author of Blue Like Jazz, Don Miller, was in OKC. I was lucky enough to snag a ticket to hear him speak. He was a great speaker, and really funny.

Ramblings....

Happy Friday! Enjoy....

Yesterday I realized I'm a competitive person. I'm talking real competitive. Yesterday when I was bidding on the airplane tickets something just came over me. I lost all common sense. There was a voice telling me to get the tickets, price was no option, and I would WIN! Can you really win a silent auction? No. See how outrageous this sounds? Luckily, the voice was suddenly quieted by my conscience, which sounds a lot like my mom's voice. This voice was saying- ARE YOU CRAZY, $900, PUT THE PEN DOWN RIGHT NOW!

I still don't know how to fold a fitted sheet. I worked on it last time I wrote Ramblings. I was hoping to have it mastered by the next Ramblings. No improvement.

Do you know why I love small airports? It's because the flight attendants let you walk off the plane and walk onto the runway. There's no tunnel thing. The flight attendants open the door and kick everyone out. It's so cool. The feeling of standing at the top of the airplane stairs is very empowering. I always want to reenact the famous Nixon Move, the double peace sign. Of course, I don't because Sister #1 would completely die of embarrassment.

I have to buy new tires. I don't want to spend my money on new tires. I have nothing else to say about this issue, I just want it noted.

Every year my office gives free flu shots. This year I'll be gone the day the shots are given. I'm debating on how to handle the flu shot situation. I know I need one, but I don't want to pay. Did you know these things are like $25? Why would I pay someone $25 to poke my arm? Do you realize $25 will buy me a shirt at Gap? Well, a shirt on sale.

Sam Bradford, OU Quarterback, is still hurt. I've heard about it all morning, on every radio station. Right now the state of Oklahoma is in morning.

Did you hear about Jon and Kate? The people that have 8 kids? TLC kicked Jon off the show. It's now called Kate Plus 8. Jon is so stupid. I don't think he realized that America used to love him. We did. Does he not remember when everyone hated Kate? America felt sorry for Jon because Kate was so bossy and mean. Now, we think he's dumb and immature and worthless. If he would have played his cards right, he would probably still be on the show. Who knows, we might be watching him on The View, not Kate.

I've been taking allergy medicine all week. I don't like allergy medicine. It makes me feel like I'm walking on a big fluffy cloud. I see why the government restricts allergy medicine.

Blogger World, I'm going to wrap up the Ramblings. It's time for breakfast.

And the winner is.....

Well, the airplane tickets got up to 950.00. I was hanging in there until the last second, when they shot up to 950. Since I will not be going to Canada or Alaska any time soon, I couldn't justify purchasing the tickets. However, I did walk away with this nice Made In Oklahoma basket. It's has 3 bottles of wine, 2 beers, lots of jams, peanuts, and beef jerky.

It's for the kids?

Today, at work is fundraiser day. It's a big deal around the office. Through out the day lots of food will be consumed and major fundraising will take place. One of the ways we raise money is by silent auction baskets. Today is the last day to place bids on the silent auction baskets. In the past I've always walked away with a basket, usually because Sister #1 and I split the cost and items in the basket. This year I thought I would let you guys help us pick out a basket. There's lots of good ones this year, and I'm having a hard time deciding. Here are my favorites....

1) A local college basket- includes gcards to an ice cream shop, burger shack, 2 t-shirts, money for the concession stand, and 4 football tickets.

2) Harvest Basket- includes fun fall jams and bread/muffin mixes.
3) Airplane Tickets or U2 Concert Tickets- I can either bid on 2 rountrip airplane tickets or 2 tickets to U2 Concert. The negative for U2 is I'll have to find someone to go with me, which isn't always an easy task. But it would be cool to see U2 in concert. I'm leaning more towards the airplane tickets, because it will give me another excuse to go somewhere. The plane tickets are up to $500 and U2 is at $175.
4) Tool Set- I'm single therefore I need tools.
5) Movie Basket- everything you need for a movie night. There's a Blockbuster gcard, movie passes, candy, cokes, ect. It's kind of cute.

Please place your picks right now. No really....help us out bidding stops at 2.
