The five things you should know

1. Last night I watched Fast Five. It's seriously a good movie, and I have a thing for Ludacris. I think we'd be friends in real life.
2. I really want to see the new Mission Impossible. Now I agree, Tom Cruise is a bit crazy, but he makes good movies. Also, this summer Sister #2 and I watched all the Mission Impossible movies. It was part of my movie/tv education.
3. Next week I'm going on a trip, and then the next week I'm going on another trip. Folks, single life is great. Don't let anyone tell you different.
4. This morning I woke up craving macaroni and cheese.

5. I had to Google how to spell macaroni.

How to make me smile

It is no secret Paula Deen is my cooking hero. In my opinion, she is a real southern woman. She cooks with butter. She made the term ya'll more tolerable. She believes cream cheese, heavy cream, and oil are staple ingredients for any good recipes. Bottom line....she's a fun, witty, butter cooking machine that makes millions off her recipes. What's not to love about this woman?

Yesterday, my coworkers gave me the best Christmas present. They gave me a Paula Deen recipe book/journal, which I love. However, that's not the cool part. You guys, it is signed by Paula Deen. Not just stamped with her signature. No, it's really signed by her! Hands down...coolest thing!!! Thank you coworkers!!! This is my I love you guys.

It's a Christmas Dinner Party

Sunday I attended a Christmas Dinner Party. My friend Terra hosted the party at her lovely home. Look how cute she had the table set. Blogger World, please take note of the tiny stockings holding the silverware. How cute is that???
Since I'm a huge fan of food I had to document our delicious meal. Everyone brought a side dish, while our host provided ham and dessert. I took corn casserole, green beans, and dip. Yes, I am an overachiever.
As you can it was a great night had by all.

A big thanks to Terra! She was a fantastic host. She even gave us cookies as party favors. I do love party favors, especially edible ones.

The Perfect Travel Purse

For three years I have been on an important mission. I've been on a mission to find the perfect travel purse. My current travel purse is over 10 years old. It's been a great purse but I'm ready/want something new. Blogger World yesterday, I found the perfect travel purse...

Isn't it beautiful? Don't you agree it's the perfect travel purse? It's big, has two types of straps, and it has pockets. It's the perfect travel purse.

I want this purse. I need this purse. Fine, I don't really need this purse. I suppose that statement might be a bit dramatic. But I really want it.

Sadly Blogger World, I did not purchase the perfect travel purse. I had to let it slip through my fingers. You see, I emailed Sister #1 about the perfect purse. I just knew she would be on board. But she was not. Of course, Sister #1 had to get all common sense on me! She started using statements like...it's Christmas, and aren't you going on two trips next month. Dang her and her common sense!!!

Ramblings...

Rambling: tending to depart from the main point or cover a wide range of subjects.
Folks, enjoy your December Ramblings....

If you haven't noticed it's Christmas time. This can only mean one thing, Christmas movies. Here at Cheap Cable World, I have one channel airing Christmas movies, Lifetime. I must say, this year they have had some good movies. The other night I watched one called Recipe for a Perfect Christmas. It was really cute. It was definitely one of those cheesy love Christmas movies, but whatever. I like cheesy love movies.

Melissa Rivers, Joan Rivers daughter, is dating a porn king. Now a couple things come to mind when I read the article. Number one, when did our society start appointing porn king and queens? I mean, was there a vote? Number two, how does one go about introducing their porn king boyfriend to the family? Call me crazy, but I see that introduction being a bit awkward.

Last weekend, I had my work Christmas party. This marked the second year of attending solo. It wasn't bad. Honestly, it wasn't a horrible experience. Well, until the Party Pics lady asked if I wanted a picture by myself. Why would I want a picture by myself? Why?
Blogger World, I swear some day I will have a legit date to my work Christmas party. I'm adding it to my goal list. It will happen someday!

Time Magazine revealed their Person of the Year. This year they have recognized The Protesters. I'm not for sure what else to say about their choice. Congratulations?

While in Canada, I rediscovered a love. NO...wait. I did not rediscover any type of love. Strike that sentence from the record. What I meant to say is I rediscovered my fondness for the cast iron skillet. When I was younger my grandma would fry eggs and bacon in her cast iron skillet every morning. Folks, you have not experienced eggs unless they have been cooked in a cast iron skillet. No sir!

Pioneer Woman will be releasing a new cookbook. Does this woman ever run out of recipes? Good Lord!

Good news with my Fantasy Football league. I'm in first place. Well, my manager and I are in first place. I'm really proud of this accomplishment. It's my first year to play and I'm kicking butt. It's really fun when you win. The best part about all this...I still do not know a thing about the NFL. Zilch!

Friends, I hope you have enjoyed your Ramblings. Until next time...

OH Canada

Folks, I have returned from Canada, which I will refer to as Land of the Poutine. Do you guys know about the Pountine? No? Well, let me show you...
Pountine: fries topped with brown gravy. This is huge in Canada. HUGE!

Blogger World, I'm happy to report back that I had a good time in Canada. I'm going to be honest, I really thought this trip was going to blow. I'm talking, worst trip ever!!! EVER.

You see, I went to visit my friend Travis. We will call him Canada Travis from here on out. I know, not one of my best nicknames. Canada Travis and I met many, many, many years ago at Camp Lu-Jo KISMIF. We were young high school students who got along great. But as we all know, most everyone changes from high school. Hence why I thought the trip would be a complete failure. I mean, what if Canada Travis turned into a freak show? What if I've become a freak show? Thankfully, neither one of us turned into a freak show. Come to find out, we're both pretty normal and still get along pretty well.

Here are some of the highlights from the trip:

Boston Pizza- I found this funny. Boston is not famous for it's pizza. And apparently, no one at Boston Pizza cared to research American Pizza toppings, because shrimp is not a normal pizza topping.

Calgary (downtown)- Some of the best Christmas lights.
West Edmonton Mall-This mall has EVERYTHING. If you want to visit a water park and then go ice skating...this is the place for you. You know my favorite part of the mall? H&M. Oh and the random pirate ship.
Sylvan Lake-Canada Travis's home. He lives on a lake. I felt the best way to see his town was to walk. He was less than thrilled to walk his town for 3 hours, but he was a good sport.

Snow- I conquered my fear of driving in the snow. I drove three times while in Canada, and it snowed every time. It was the weirdest thing.
Well there you have it, the highlights of Canada. Now, I have a stamp in my passport and another country to check off my list.
