Traveling with my family

As I mentioned Monday night, I wasn't finished sharing my Seattle pictures. Today's post is full of more Seattle pictures, along with a nice story.

Blogger World, meet my dad. He's a good dad...works hard for us, loves us, takes us out to eat, and gives us Thunder tickets.
While in Seattle my dad (see picture 1) decided we would take public transportation to the airport. He wanted to be adventurous.

We hauled our luggage all over Seattle on Saturday afternoon.
We waited for one of our trains.
We rode two trains to reach the airport.
We patiently rode the last train for 40 minutes, which was 11 stops.

We made it to the airport with no problems.

We saved $37.50.

I burned 300 calories carrying 3 bags.

My dad felt cool.

The End.

New Favorite

Blogger World, I have lots of favorites.

You know this about me.

I'm sure you get tired of hearing about my favorites. It's ok, you can be honest with me. However, before you get too honest, just remember that I've looked at thousands of pictures of your darling children and never say a word.

Today, I'm here to proclaim my new food favorite. Are you ready?

Figs.

Do you know about figs?

I've actually never tasted a real non processed fig. However, Google provided me with this picture, in case you were unsure of figs.

Ok, some quick facts about figs, curiosity of Wikipedia because that's were all information is stored. Yes, it is. Don't argue with me.
*Figs are one of the highest plant sources of calcium and fiber.
*Figs have a laxative effect and contain many antioxidants.
*Although commonly referred to as a fruit, the fig fruit is actually the flower of the tree, known as an inflorescence.

Now, if you are like me and live in the Butter & Cream capitol of the world, it might be a bit tough to find a fresh fig, hence why I've never had a fresh fig. However, one thing the Butter & Cream capitol of the world do have... is jam. We have all kinds of jams here, including Fig Jam.
The past few weeks I've been spreading fig jam on my Turkey Sandwiches and hot bread. It's heaven folks! HEAVEN!

I recommend that everyone try a fig today- either fresh, dried, or in the jam form.

Another Weekend Update with Pictures

Last week I left you hanging on the pictures. Again, sorry about the lack of pictures last week. However, this weekend I have redeemed myself. Folks, sit back and enjoy pictures from my four day weekend. Yes, the family and I had a four day weekend in Seattle. You didn't even miss me, did you? Shame on you! Anyway, here some of my favorite pictures....

Don't worry, this isn't the last of Seattle. I have many more pictures to share. However, Castle is about to come on, and you know how I feel about Castle.

Weekend Update with Pictures

Another weekend has come and gone. Sad, I know. But today is Wednesday so another weekend is right around the corner.

This past weekend was a fun weekend. My friend ML was in town. In case you have forgotten who ML is, TC, you can read about him here, and here. If you are too lazy to read about him, which is fine, he is one of my friends who lived in Japan. Ok, on to the weekend....

We cooked dinner. I personally think it was a fabulous dinner. But in this picture, it looks gross. We will blame the lighting, or lack of lighting. The menu was Rosemary Chicken, Butternut Squash Soup, Salad, Bread with Fig Jam, and Couscous. We enjoyed dinner outside, because it was very nice outside. We had a great weather this past weekend.

Bricktown. My little town is slowly becoming a big town. You know how I know this? We have horse statues. Does your town have this? See, we are becoming a big deal. If you come to see me, I will take you to see the horses. Besides seeing the horses, Sister #1 and I took ML to one of my favorite cupcake places, and walked around the canal.
PS- Sister #1 is back to dark hair. I know, it's hard to keep up.
ML and I visited a local winery. It was my first time to visit. I have to say I was impressed. It's a cute little place tucked away in the country. I highly recommend a trip to Luther, OK to visit this place. Even if you do not drink wine, it's a very pretty place.
Now, I'm afraid I have some bad news. This is where the pictures end. I know, I'm a horrible blogger. But, here are some things that did not get documented, please use your imagination....

Sushi with friends
Porch night
Pizza with friends
JKLM+B Dinner
and...
a few Starbucks runs

Blogger World, this weekend I will be better on the pictures. I promise. Bloggers Honor.

Recent Discoveries

Blogger World, I have discovered some wonderful food combination.

I'm taking it upon myself to pass this information on to you. I honestly think some of you will love them too. I mean to be completely honest, they have changed my world.

First up...Non-Fat Chai with Pumpkin Syrup.

This combination knocked my socks off. I discovered it Sunday night. ML and I were at Starbucks, and it just hit me. Pumpkin flavor in my favorite drink, would probably be fantastic. It was, it is. I'm drinking one now. I know that my taste buds are a bit off, but ML confirmed that a Non-Fat Chai with Pumpkin is awesome! Ok, he didn't say awesome, because he would never say anything was awesome, but I know he would have used awesome if it was in is common vocabulary. He's not really dramatic like myself.

Second up...Coconut Rice.
One thing you should know about me. I do not like coconut. I just don't do coconut. I don't like shredded coconut, cocunut flavor, nothing. However, my friend WS made coconut rice one night. You know, I wanted to be a nice guest so I tried some. I feel in love. It was so good! I hardly tasted the coconut, and the rice was stick and great. Last night, WS made me a big pot of coconut rice. He even sent me home with leftovers, lots and lots of leftovers.

So there you have it, my new discoveries. Everyone should try them. I think you will like them. If not, well... at least you tried something new.

Tonight

I ditched class.

I'm not much of a ditcher. You see, I need to go to class. I need the credit for attending class, and I need the extra help. I've said this 1,000 times but I'm not the best student. It takes me longer to process things, so class is important.

But tonight, there was no way I was going to make it through a 3 hour Finance class. There was just no way. I was too tired. I could barely keep my eyes open, and when 7pm rolled around I was ready for bed.

So, tonight I sat on my couch enjoying a frozen pizza and a Braum's Peppermint Milkshake, while watching mindless TV. After my TV fest I'm probably stupider, and fatter from my milkshake. I'm about 85% sure this night has set me back a couple weeks.

Ramblings

Welcome to Wednesday. I do not know of a better way to celebrate Wednesday, than with one of my world famous Ramblings.

So, big news. This morning OKC had an earthquake. No lie. I just read on buddy LB's blog, that she felt the earthquake too. We live over an hour apart. Folks, do you understand how huge this is for my state? It's huge. I mean, not only do we battle tornadoes, but now we battle earthquakes. CA has nothing on my state.

I knew today was going to be a good day. I started off my day with an 5:35am Jazzercise class. Can I tell you the line up of songs I had this AM? Weezer, Pink, Justin Bieber, and my favorite RuPaul. I'm sorry, but you know it's going to be a good day when RuPaul is reminding you to put the bass in your walk! Everyone needs some bass in their walk. I actually have no idea what that means. I apologize if it's inappropriate.

The Mom Planner is working out fabulously. I'm so happy I bought The Mom Planner. I would like to take the time to thank everyone for letting me know I'm not a complete dork for buying the thing. Thanks. By the way, I've already used 4 stickers. I was sooo excited. I swear, I should be a teacher.

Well, I'm going to cut this Ramblings short. I have more to say, but I really want chips with my sandwich and I need to go hunt down some chips.

Over and out.

Weekend Update

A Weekend Update with pictures. Is there anything better. I think not.

High School Football. It was Homecoming, and they lost. To be honest, it was an ugly game. However, I made the best of it by visiting with lots of friends.
A race.
I had lunch at one of my favorite places, City Bites. You are looking at why it's one of my favorite places. Their Pumpkin Cookies make me smile.
My mom and I enjoyed the sunshine while attending the Heritage Hills Home Tour. Someday when I'm rich and famous, I'm going to live in this neighborhood. The neighborhood is full of cute, charming historic homes. I think I would fit in nicely.
Sunday I helped with a baby shower for Holly. My job was to help pick up trash, move furniture, and eat cookies/mints. It was a tough job.
I also talked with this lovely lady at the shower. We were on trash, furniture, and mint duty together.
The End!
I hope you enjoyed my Weekend Update!

Someone call 9-1-1

On the way to class, I held up an entire red light because I was watching my town's firefighters play volleyball. The ten cars behind me were not happy. What can I say, I had no idea my town had young, possibly single, firefighters. No idea!

You never know what is going to happen in my world....you just never know.

I'm an organizer, not a mom

I'm one of those organizer freaks. I may appear to be scattered brained, but I really have it all together and organized. You will just have to trust me on this one.

Not only am I an organizer, I'm also a writer. No, not a talented money making writer. I'm a person that has to write things down so I don't forget. I like to have a pocket calendar where I can write down everything. Basically, if an event, appointment, due date, or grocery item is not written in my calendar I will not be there.

I get this from my mom. She's a writer too.

Today, I stumbled across the perfect planner/calender. Here are the pros for this planner...

*The outside and inside were cute, but not too girly.
*It had plenty of space for writing notes, but not too much space where it's wasted space.
*There is space for a weekly Grocery & To Do List.
*It comes with cute useful stickers to mark events, appointments, or birthdays on the calendar.
*It was the perfect size for me. Not too small, not overly huge. It would fit in any of my purses.

It was perfect!

I'm sure you are wondering why I did not purchase this perfect planner? Well, I was going to until I flipped it over to the cover. The name of the perfect planner was, The Mom Planner.

The cover had a picture of a soccer type mom with two kids running after her. AHH! I was so bummed. I couldn't possible purchase this planner. Dang you married/mom people. You guys ruin everything!!!! I just wanted a simple pocket calender with cute stickers.

Fast forward two hours after my discovery. I was still thinking about the perfect planner.

I finally decided I was not going to stop thinking about the planner. I knew what must be done. So, I went and purchased The Mom Planner. Yup, you read that right. OK Chick, young single girl, is now the proud owner of a Mom Planner.

Please, stop laughing.

If you don't stop laughing, I won't use a sticker for your birthday day!
