Life as a Bachelorette
Two weeks ago my friend, Idiot Guy #1- not to be confused with Guy #1, and I made plans to hang out. Due to his busy schedule and my… not so busy schedule we decided this past Friday would be the best time for us to hang out. A little background information on Idiot Guy #1; we’ve been friends for about 3 years, he has the coolest job out of all my friends, and he’s very fun to be around. So with all that said, I was excited to spend Friday evening with Idiot Guy #1.
Here’s how this tale unfolded. Try to stay with me and remember all this takes place last week…
Monday I discovered that a mutual friend planned her birthday party on Friday night, the Friday night Idiot Guy #1 and I made plans. I knew Idiot Guy #1 and her were good friends and assumed he would need/want to be at the birthday party. Monday night I sent a text to Idiot Guy #1 inquiring about our Friday night plans. He responded…I’m not canceling on you. Silly me took that to mean, he wasn’t going to cancel on me. The next day, Tuesday, two different friends invited me to the Jewel concert that was also Friday night. Of course, I said no to both friends because Idiot Guy #1 and I had plans. Wednesday night I check to make sure our plans are still on. Again, I’m told he was not going to cancel on me, which made me feel better about giving up Jewel tickets. You know, twenty dollar Jewel tickets, to her outdoor concert, where food and drink is include in the ticket price, the famous Jewel! Anyway, let’s fast forward to Friday. I’m in an aerobics when I noticed that Idiot Guy #1 tried to call me. I called Idiot Guy #1 back and he informed me that he’d gotten a lot of crap for wanting to ditch his friend’s birthday party. Then he went on about how he didn’t want to cancel on me, but thought he should probably go to the party. YOU THINK! THIS IS WHY I ASKED TWICE IF YOU WANTED TO CANCEL!!!! IDIOT GUY #1 spent five minutes of my precious time hemming-hawing around when he finally settled with a decision. At 6:30pm, Friday night the decision was made to kick me to the curb and go to the party. However, he did feel bad for ditching me, and offered to bring me cheesecake. I replied….sounds good, surprise me with the flavor. I’m still waiting on my cheesecake.
But do not feel sorry for Ok Chick. Due to my unexpected free Friday night I managed to be very productive. I mowed the yard, cleaned, baked a cake for Saturday, and watched a very educational Dateline. Also, I was able to obtain the recommended eight hours of sleep. Really, the night was great. Who doesn’t like spending a Friday night at home mowing, cleaning, and baking?

The fastest way to my heart
Good morning OK Chick. I just started your drink. I hope it’s a Tall Day and not a Grande Day!
I was blown away! Talk about service. The guy knew my name, my real name, and he had my drink ready by the time I paid. Zero wait time. There was even a huge line at the drive-thru, and they still took care of me first. I love Starbucks. I don’t care what you say! My MBA friend, Thomas, always said Starbucks is the Wal-Mart of coffee; or something like that. But I disagree when it comes to service. The last time I checked, no one at Wal-Mart knew my name. Heck, they aren’t even friendly half the time. Today, I tip my hat off to my Strabucks guy. Thanks for making my morning. It’s because of you that I am going broke and addicted to these overpriced drinks.

Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world
10. Van Morrison - Brown Eyed Girl
9. Garth Brooks - Friends In Low Places
8. Van Halen - Runnin’ With The Devil
7. Boston - More Than A Feeling
6. Anything by Jack Johnson or any other marginally talented acoustic guitar-based singer
5. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
4. Rick Springfield - Jessie’s Girl
3. Anything by or featuring Lil Wayne
2. Bon Jovi - Livin’ On A Prayer
ANNNNNDDDD the #1 song, my ringtone…….
Journey - Don’t Stop Believin’
Now don’t get me wrong I love most of these songs. No, scratch that- I like them all. Well, I’m not a huge fan of Friends in Love Places. Garth is a great singer, but growing up in OK you heard the song everyday, every hour for about three years straight- the song got old. But all around, I find this list to be a great list of songs. As a matter of fact, most of these songs are on my iPod. However, my question is why are college students still playing songs that were popular in the earlier 80s, like when I was the ripe age of one? I understand that Jack Johnson and Lil Wayne are newer, but the other eight songs are from the 80s. I also understand that these are great songs, classics if you will, but really? Are college students so lame that they cannot find new songs to play at their frat parties? I shake my head and pass this information off to you, Blogger World. Please help the younger generation. Now if you would excuse me...I feel like listening to some Boston.

Weekend Updates
I solved the debate by eating a bag of Mini Oreos and typing up this blog post. Am I good or what?
Ok, I know this first paragraph is way cheesy; but really, these are the things I think about during my day. Let me just get on with the post before you move on to a new blog.
Friday
Blogger World, Friday night was the peak of my exciting weekend. Friday night I went to see Mamma Mia, the musical, with my old coworker/friend. This was my second time to see the musical and I loved it again. I believe Mamma Mia has taken the #2 spot for favorite musical of all time. It’s a big move on my list. It was listed as #3 on my favorite musical of all time.
My old coworker/friend has a new job at a very big company here in OKC. Her company was a big sponsor so we were able to buy our tickets early, which means we got to sit close. I like sitting where I can see things. I mean don’t get me wrong, nose bleed section is cool but sometimes it’s nice to see what’s happening on stage.
Saturday
Well what can I say about Saturday? I guess we can say Saturday was my day of relaxing? However, I didn’t just lie around doing nothing all day. I was very productive on my Saturday. First, I spent most of my afternoon ironing. I hate ironing. Not only do I hate ironing, I suck at ironing- hence why it took me all afternoon to iron my dress shirts. If I ever have a husband, he better know how to iron. Second part of the day, was spent battling all the families at the grocery store. I went to the grocery store during the 3rd quarter of the OU game. I figured everyone would be watching the game. WRONG! Everyone in the greater OKC area must have decided to go grocery shopping during the 3rd quarter. While I was at the grocery store I decided I would be a thrifty girl and use my new online coupons. I purposely purchased certain items. These were things I had coupons for, so I assumed I would be getting a better deal. I was really proud of myself because I was going to save over $6.50. Well, I get up to the register to check out and the snot nose register boy says… “I’m sorry, we do not except online coupons.” I was beyond furious! He couldn’t have told me that before he scanned every item. OH NO! We had to say it after everything was bagged. Oh I was mad. I’m still mad. I will no longer be going to that grocery store. They have been nixed from my list!!! Sadly, that’s all Saturday entailed. Oh wait…Sister #1 and I did make ourselves a great steak dinner and watched Catch Me if You Can.
Sunday
Big day! Sunday, was my first day back as a Sunday School Teacher. You are looking at the newest Sunday School Teacher for a handful of 4th graders. It was way fun! We played games for a whole hour. I beat them all.
Well there you have it, the first weekend in September. It included Abba music, ironing, fighting for groceries, and helping 4th graders learn their memory verse. You know, a normal weekend for OK Chick!

Friday Fun Facts

Uncle Ben's Ready Rice. Blogger World, this was my dinner last night. It was tasty and it only took 90 seconds. Oh, and not to mention I didn't have to clean up a pot or pan. This was a great side dish to my frozen fish thing.

Cookbook. This is my favorite cookbook. Back in April I bought this cookbook for myself and The Cousin. I bought it for me becuase I wanted it, and it was a bday present for The Cousin. I've been enjoying this cookbook ever since I graduated. Hungry Girl has compiled some great recipes, and of course all of them are healthy. I highly recommend this cookbook.
There you have it...my new favorite things. Love them, hate them, but at least I entertained you for a few minutes. Always the top goal here at This is my world...

Weekend Updates
Friday
Ok, so scratch the whole first paragraph of this post because zero excitement happened on Friday night. But I promise the excitement is coming. I spent my Friday night eating tomato soup and reading a book. Stop laughing! It was a good book. It was one of those books you couldn’t put down. I wanted to finish the book, which I did by the way. And in case you were wondering, the tomato soup I had was horrible. It literally was the worst soup I have ever made, and I usually make great tomato soup. I wasted three tomatoes on that soup!
Saturday
Now the excitement begins. Saturday was a travel day, which meant I got to go to the airport! I love airports. My dad and I were taking a short weekend trip to….Austin, TX! The Land of the Longhorns. After a quick layover in Dallas we finally landed in Longhorn Land. Seriously, these people are serious about football. I saw more nasty orange than I have ever seen in my life!
The first order of business in Austin was to pick up our race packets. You see, my dad and I were in Austin to run a race. Would you expect anything less from us? We were running The Nike Human Race. The Nike Human Race was a race that was hosted in 25 cities around the world, with Austin being one of three US cities to host the race. Nike’s goal was to have 1 million people run a 10K in a matter of 24 hours. I believe they had 900,000 run in all 25 cities. When I read about the race I just knew I had to be involved. It sounded too fun, and Austin isn’t too far from OKC. So I signed us up for my dad’s birthday present.

Day #1 of Austin was turning out to be loads of fun.
Sunday
Sunday was race day, except not until 6:00pm so we had all day to explore Austin. First, we ate breakfast at a cool outdoor restaurant. Blogger World, you know I love eating outside and the food was excellent. I wish I could remember the name of the place, but I don’t.
After breakfast we drove the race course. I hate not knowing a course when I run …whether it’s 5Ks or ½ marathons. I like to know when I’m half way done. As we were driving the course I realized something…Austin has some freakin’ hills. I feel that I can safely classify these hills as small mountains. This would probably be the time that I started thinking…HOLY CRAP I CANNOT RUN 6 MILES WITH THESE MOUNTAINS!
When I'd calm down from my freak out session we parked our rental car and decided to walk around downtown Austin. You know, because running 6 miles later that night wasn’t enough for my dad. Blogger World, you think I’m A.D.D you should meet my dad. He’s 1,000 times worse than me. However, walking around ended up being fun because we got to see Ben Harper warm up for his concert. After the race Ben Harper was putting on an outdoor concert for all the runners. I’m telling you, Nike pulled out all the stops for this race.
Monday
We flew home. I drug home so tired that I had to take a nap. After a four hour nap it was dinner with Holly, Sister #1, and another friend. I tried out a new Rachel Ray recipe on my friends. This one turned out better than my gross tomato soup. You live and learn people!

A Teaser
