Peace Out 2007

This post isn’t a look back at 2007. The title leads you to believe I’m going to rehash the good and bad from 2007, which would be a good idea if I’d done it last week. By now, I feel like everyone has heard enough about 2007 and ready to move on to 2008. Am I right or am I right? I mean, yesterday I heard Ryan Seacrest’s count down- twice. There’s no need for that! Anyway, I came up with the title of this post while I was running, and it kind of stuck, so there you have it. But this post is basically a Weekend Update. I had a four-day weekend, so there’s bound to be good stuff that happened to me over four days…I guess?

Friday
Tonya & Suzy came over for a relaxing Friday evening. What is better than a relaxing Friday evening after the crazy Christmas days? Nothing I tell you! The evening began with the opening of Christmas presents. After all the presents were opened we enjoyed a great dinner, Chicken Taco Soup. I made the soup and it was great! I actually made up the recipe as I went along. I find that sometimes making up recipes is not a good idea, but I was lucky this one turned out delicious. After we stuffed ourselves we watched Material Girl with Hillary Duff and the other Duff girl. So it’s a kid movie, and I’m 26 what’s the big deal? Right, I look like a dork. Ok, moving on to Saturday….

Saturday
I can’t say I accomplished a lot Saturday, or this whole weekend. Saturday I spent a large portion of the day watching 24. I’ve never seen the 24 series. My coworker has me watching the 1st season while I’m on Christmas break with school. It’s good. I’m not going to lie I’ve been glued to my TV for a week with this series. Although, that’s not really saying a whole lot, I can be glued to my TV for a Hallmark movie! But 24 is pretty good. I’ve been slowing watching all 24 episodes, and Saturday I decided to knock out 3-4 episodes. I of course, never fail at a TV mission and watched 4 episodes!
After I pulled myself from the TV I went to the movies. I went to see Charlie Wilson War. I had no idea what this movie was about, but it got going I became to enjoy the movie. I recommend it, but I don’t recommend you pay full price. Do you realize it cost 9.50 to go to the movies? 9.50! Here’s the conversation between the ticket lady and myself Saturday night….

Me: One student ticket to Charlie Wilson War?
Lady: $8.00
Me: Did you give me the student price?
Lady: Yes.
Me: Good grief how much does it cost to go the movies? As I’m asking I’m searching for a sign listing prices.
Lady: Adult ticket is 9.50!
Me: FOR A MOVIE! Is there anything here worth seeing for 9.50?

I’m lucky I had a gift card because I honestly think I would have turned around and walked away from the movies. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to spend 9.50 for a movie.

Sunday
More 24, until dark. I have this rule…no 24 at night. See, I get scared and have nightmares if I watch 24 at night. The first night I watched an episode at 10:00pm, by 11:00pm I was dreaming Russians had kidnapped me! So after church, when it was dark, Jamie and I watched a movie. We turned this movie on thinking it would be horrible, but surprisingly it was good. I highly recommend Miss Congeniality 2. Honestly, it was cute!


Monday
I was off work. I decided to honor my day off by sleeping in until 8:30! Monday was New Year’s Eve. This is probably where I’m supposed to talk about my amazing New Year’s Eve plans. The lavish parties I attended, and great New Year’s kiss I received at midnight. But sadly, I did not attend a swanky party. I did not get dressed up in my new party dress; AND I did not receive a kiss at midnight, or even stay up until midnight. This grandma went home and hung out with her parents. Sad? I hardly call that a bad evening. My mom and I hit the Walgreen’s after Christmas sale. People, I got rolls of Christmas wrapping paper for $.25 a piece. You cannot pass up on these good deals!

Tuesday
My dad and I woke up at 9:00am to participate in a 5K race. We wanted to start the New Year off right. My mom said we were crazy. It was 19 degrees when our race started. I see the positive in running a race with freezing cold temperatures. This is an opportunity to try out my new winter running clothes. Again my mom said we were crazy. Well whatever we were, crazy or cool I ran a 5K in the morning. Oh and I must add that this is where I thought of the Peace Out 2007 title. I believe I thought of this after I lost the feeling of both hands.
After I thawed out my family went to see National Treasure. Great movie! I stamp it $9.50 worthy!

Well there you have it…the last days of 2007 and the first day of 2008. The common theme along all these days is…TV and movies. Huh, really no different than normal.

December Ramblings...

Blogger World today you are in for a special treat. Today, December 20, is a special Ramblings- it’s a December Ramblings. I have decided to dedicate these Ramblings fully to Christmas. OKChick, unlike all the radio stations in OK, only dedicates ONE post to Christmas, not every post from Thanksgiving to Christmas. I feel that’s a bit much. Don’t you agree? I know you do.

I would like to go on record saying: Sausage balls are the greatest snack on the face of the plant. I realize this is a bold statement, but I strongly agree that sausage balls are the greatest snack. Whoever developed the Sausage Balls is truly my hero! Bisquick, cheese, and sausage, who would have ever thought to put all that together? Brillant I tell you, brillant!

Today is snack day here at the office, hence the random sausage ball rambling. I just explained to my friend that this is the greatest day. Three offices down from me is my envision of heaven. It’s an entire office full of snacky type foods. There are dips, crackers, cheese, fruit, cake, apple bread, chex mix, cookies, sausage balls, and candy. Oh it’s great! I’m pretty sure my coworkers will have to roll me out of my office tonight. Shoot, I might not leave tonight. I am pondering spending the night to continue the feast of snacks.

I have spotted a couple new things this holiday season. The first, and pretty much the only thing I’ve spotted, are the reindeer horns on cars. Please examine Exhibit A.

As you can see, the reindeer horns are place on top of the car, and big red nose is placed on the front of the vehicle. Now whoever developed this is a complete dork. I’m sorry. My city has exploded with this trend. I’ve seen a bunch of SUVs sporting the reindeer look this holiday season. This look is not cool. My absolute favorite thing about this trend is seeing the dad’s driving the mini-vans with the reindeer look. It’s priceless. You know they are thinking…I have completely lost my man card.

I believe I have done well on my Christmas shopping. I think everyone is getting very unique presents. My friend Andrew opened his present last night. I think he liked what I had given him. He received a mug, some different teas, and Fresh Linen candles. The candles smelt wonderful! I would love to give you more examples of some of my presents, but knowing my luck my family might decide to read my blog. The odds are good that they will not, but you never know.

I have one thing to do before Christmas is over. I must have Eggnog. I love Eggnog. I think I’m the ONLY person in my family that even likes Eggnog. I know neither of my roommates enjoy the delicious drink.

Has anyone busted out their Christmas sweaters and worn them to work? It’s ok to admit it. I mean I haven’t worn one, because I don’t own one. But, I won’t make fun of you if you’ve worn a Christmas sweater. I promise…Blog’s honor.

This is the time of year I think someone is going to ask me out for a Christmas type date. You know, the Christmas lights, ice-skating, hot chocolate type date. Well I’m going on year # 26 of this dream and still no date. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Nil. Zip. I believe everyone grasp the point I’m trying to make.

This year I did not get Christmas cards sent out. I know I’m such a failure. I would like to take the time to thank everyone that has taken the time to send me a Christmas card. I enjoy receiving all of them, and each of them was special to me. Thanks!

Today was a good day because...

The answer to yesterday’s post is # 3. Thanks for playing guys, that was fun. I might do that again. Ok, now on to this post.

Today I was reading an article about the effects of being a positive person. The article pointed out that being positive when interacting with others can in return make them feel better about themselves. This is not new to me, but it just hit me. I can make a difference in someone’s life, and I don’t take advantage of the opportunity. The article also got me thinking and questioning how positive I am on daily basis. I have to be honest I’m not really a positive person. I guess that’s a bit harsh. I’m not negative 24/7, but there is definitely room for improvement. I thought today would be a great day to start my positive challenge. A great way to be positive is to review all the good things that happened to me throughout the day, instead of all the bad things. Ok, here goes …

Today was a good day because…

I received my grades from class. I totally made A’s!

I made an A on my final in Economics.

I made it to work on time this morning.

I talked to Holly for a good portion of the day, and she made me laugh a couple times.

I have dinner plans tonight.

My coworker gave me a Christmas present.

My house has electricity.

I’m going to aerobics tonight.

I ate lunch with my coworkers.

I handed out Christmas presents to my coworkers. Two of my coworker told me they loved their presents. Another coworker almost cried, because she liked it not hated it.

Today I ate a bite size Snickers, and didn’t feel bad about it.

this morning I used my new shampoo and conditioner, and now my hair smells good.

Someone apologized to me.

I made it through the workday.

I had a great sandwich for lunch, and it was free.

Four Truths and a Lie

This morning I was reading Kara’s blog and decided to steal her post for today. Thank you Kara- your creativity has reached me all the way from New Zealand.

1) I haven’t had a haircut since September.
2) I made an A in one of my classes. I’m still waiting for the grade in the other.
3) During New Year’s I’m going on an awesome ski trip.
4) I’m done with my Christmas shopping.
5) I have master Bowling on the Wii.

Round 2

It’s that time again. FINALS WEEK! WOO HOOO!!!! There’s nothing like cramming for test and writing papers full of BS. YIPPEE. Ok, I’m not really this excited about going through finals again. I’m just trying to make it sound fun, so I’ll get real motivated. I don’t think it’s really working, but maybe when I get home today something will click-like the entire seven weeks of Economics will come to me.

This MBA is split into seven-week courses, which means you have two finals week per semester. This weekend for me is fully dedicated to studying. I have extremely high expectations of myself this weekend. I plan to finish homework, write two papers, start a take home test, and begin preparing for a presentation. I’m about 89.35% sure I will not finish this laundry list of things to do for school. However, I do really well when I’m motivated by reward. If I can finish everything this weekend I believe I will reward myself by eating one of these….

Who is Mr. Right?

I’m writing this post inspired by a comment. Last week I was asked if I have a type, referring to a guy. I responded quickly to the comment by saying yes of course I have a type. Doesn’t everyone have a type? Well a week after this conversation I’m still thinking about the comment, which leads me to believe maybe I don’t know my type. Maybe, I’m typeless? I can’t walk around life being typeless? So I’m going to figure out my type. Today.

I’m not really for sure how to solve the type question. But for some reason I’m reminded of my friend Grant. My friend Grant once wrote a blog post listing all the qualities he wanted in his future wife. I believe he called it requirements. After reading his post my friends and I told him he was WAY too picky and he was destined to be single for the rest of his life. Look at some of these things he put on his blog….

Must never wear Capri pants (what’s up with those)
Must be at least 5’7” tall. (maybe I’ll make a few exceptions)

Now, don’t you agree with my friends and I? Riducouls! But a few weeks after he wrote the post, something happened. Grant met someone. Not only someone, but someone that met all the requirements. The guy with all the requirements met a girl, married, and is now living happily ever after. So maybe a list of requirements, like Grant’s, will help solve the “type” question? Maybe this will lead to more dates, which is what I’m sort of going for, not the whole marriage thing. Editor’s Note: I want to get married but not right now.
I can’t say I’ve ever sat down to write a list of requirements? What’s the protocal on writing a list of requirements? I’m assuming you just list what you want in a guy? Right? Alright, here goes…the list of requirements that will help me discover my “type”.

Must be a Christian.

He must be caring.

Wants to have kids.

Must like to laugh and make me laugh.

Must love his mom and family.

He HAS to enjoy traveling.

MUST have a job! I am not getting this MBA so someone can sit on the couch and eat Bon Bons while I work.

Intelligent. He doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist, but able to carry on a conversation.

He should have a hobby.

Enjoy a wide variety of things- camping, hiking, road trips, eating out, ect. Not just going to dinner and movie every weekend.

CAN NOT be more emotional then myself. My gosh, I do not want to put up with an emotional man.

He should not have an apartment/house that’s decorate better than mine.

Likes to attend sporting events- basketball, footballs and baseball.

Enjoys parties. I’m not talking drunky crazy party, but dinner parties birthday parties, bbq, anniversary…you know social things.

Can play some type of sport. I’ve played almost every sport so I need someone that can play tennis or basketball with me.

Enjoys being outside- lake, beach, pool, yard work, ect.
Spontaneous.

Will put up with my shopping. Not that it’s out of control but will not throw a fit everytime I got to The Loft.

Social. Can handle being around people he does not know.
Can not be lazy.

Common Sense. I know this sounds odd, but you’d be surprised how many people lack common sense.

Ok, twenty-one things. I guess that’s not too bad, it could be worse. I believe I covered everything that is important to me, and made the requirements obtainable. Ok, now according to my earlier statement this should help me determine my type. Let’s see, after reviewing my list Mr. Right needs be pretty dang amazing! Ha! Ok, really…. I believe my type is All American type??? A funny, caring, non-lazy, traveling All American. So Mr. Funny, Caring, Non-Lazy, Traveling All American- are you out there????
