Dear Blogger World,
The city is calling my name. Please excuse my absence due to shopping at H&M, riding the subway, and drinking nonfat Chais at Dean & Deluca. I shall return in the near future.

3 Truths and a Lie

It’s time to play 3 Truths and a Lie. This is a little game I like to play when I have absolutely nothing to post, and there is not a creative bone in my body.
This is how the game works…you try to figure out the lie. It’s pretty simply, huh? Leave your guess in the comment section.

1)Tomorrow night I have a date.
2)In one week I will be shopping at my favorite store H&M.
3)The Cousin is coming to see me this weekend.
4)In one week I will reading a book on the beach.

Good luck my friends….

Weekend Update

I had an eventful weekend. It was jammed packed with activities so let’s get started, shall we?

Friday
I went to a Relay for Life fundraiser. A local clothing/accessory store extended their hours and part of money made during the extended hours went to my town’s Relay for Life. It was a great event with a decent turn out. We made almost $200. I did my part to help Relay for Life, I bought a new dress. I’ve declared it my new summer dress. I will wear it at all major summer events- Sister #1’s graduation stuff, weddings, parties, vacation, summer fish fry, and any other random event that comes my way. It’s good to have a go-to summer dress.

Saturday
My whole family started off the morning with a race. It was a 5K. This was my first race of the summer, and I walked the whole thing. I’ve never walked a race; this was something new for me. It wasn’t too bad; I had a couple walking partners, which made the time go by very quickly. I’m happy to report I came in second to last- again…a new for me. This race still didn’t make me want to tie up my running shoes and hit the pavement, so I guess I still need a break.

After I walked the race I rushed home to prepare for a bridal shower. The Roommate is getting married this summer so Sister #1 and I threw her a Pampered Chef Bridal Shower. It was a fun shower. I think she received almost everything she wanted. I’m telling you, Pampered Chef Bridal Shower is the way to go! I want a Pampered Chef Bridal Shower if I ever get married. All you do is sit and watch people buy things for you. Oh and you get to eat yummy food while you watch people buy you presents. Really, this whole shower is just calling my name.

My day didn’t end there, after everything was straightened up from the party. I went to the movies. I saw Angels and Demons. It was good. I highly recommend the movie. It wasn’t as good as the book, but the movies never are as good. Next summer movie for me will be Harry Potter. I’m counting down the days!

Sunday
I had the honor of spending my Sunday in Hometown, USA. Sister #2 is graduating so Sunday was spent doing graduation stuff. First, we went to her Baccalaureate. Then, we went to Hometown, USA’s church to watch her receive her bible. All in all it was a good day. I was able to hang out with the family, see old friends, eat cake, and wear my new go-to summer dress. Good day!

Stay tuned for next week’s events. Big things are happening next weekend….

Wednesday

Today, my lunch partners went MIA. Currently, I’m sitting at my desk, alone, eating leftover Mother’s Day dinner and a Fiber One Yogurt. I hate when my lunch partners go MIA. I wish they’d give me a heads up. I could spend my lunch at the mall, or Target, or Old Navy. Instead I look like a big fat loser, sitting here at my desk. But the joke is on them, because I’m leaving 30 minutes early! That’s right! When you work through your lunch, you get to leave earlier. Oh who am I kidding, it’s not that exciting. I’m leaving early so I can go home to mow my monster yard. Lord Gary is predicting big tornados tonight. I have to get my yard mowed before it rains. I hate being a grown up. Seriously, is this what adulthood is about? You plan your evenings around the weather and the height of your yard? Awesome…

By the way, the picture has nothing to do with the post. I just thought it was funny! Happy Wednesday, Blogger World.

Weekend Update

The weekend started off as a great bachelorette weekend, but then took a quick and painful nose dive!

Friday
Friday night I had great plans. First, I was meeting some old coworkers for a fancy dinner. I was so excited to try a new (to me) Italian restaurant. For years, I’ve been dying to try this, but never had the chance. When my food arrived I was a bit disappointing, but I think I ordered the wrong dish. I hate when that happens! I have faith that the establishment is well worth the praise it receives.
After dinner it was off to see The Lion King. My old coworkers now work for a really cool company that gave us box seats to The Lion King. Also, the box seats came with a food and drink suite. We were able to go: before the show, during intermission, or after the show to snack and drink-for free! SO not only did I get to see The Lion King up close, I also ate cheese and crackers in a special room during intermission. Really, could you ask for more? No!
The evening was going wonderful. I was having a great time with my old coworkers/friends and the show was so good! We were enjoying the second act, in our box seats, when my stomach started to hurt. I tried to ignore the pain, because I was sitting in box seats at a GREAT show. However, the pain quickly turned to nausea. I don’t do nausea. My teeth start grinding, I start sweating, and my mouth starts watering. I just don’t do nausea. After a few minutes of all that, I had to rush out of The Lion King for fear that I might blow junks all over my friend’s bosses. Luckily, I didn’t do that until I arrived home.

Saturday
Instead of Land of the Hogs, it was more like Land of the After Hours Clinic. Sister #1 and I sat in the doctor’s office for almost three hours. Fun times! Props to Sister #1 for taking me to the doctor, she could have let me lie in bed and die! OH at the doctor's office, I did get to see the cute doctor from a few months ago. This time I didn’t have throw up breath, but I did have on two different running shoes, and my hair hadn’t been brushed. I feel it’s safe to say, that I can rule out cute doctor EVER asking me out!
The rest of my Saturday was spent sleeping, watching TV, or laying in bed looking at the ceiling.

Sunday
The day resembled Saturday, except no Land of the After Hours Clinic. The ONLY perk to Sunday was Sister #1 cooking dinner for the whole family. Of course, I didn’t eat, but I watched everyone else eat a great meal.

As you can see the weekend started out as very hopeful, but then took a wicked turn for the worse! I’m thankful I didn’t have the Swine Flu. It was just a stomach virus.

Friday Fun Facts

This weekend I’m heading off to Land of the Hogs. I’m excited! Recently, my cousin (not The Cousin) had a baby, so the family is going to check out the new addition. Monday I’ll report back if the kid looks like an alien, since most newborns resemble the extraterrestrial. I kid…I kid!

In honor of Land of the Hogs, Friday Fun Facts is dedicated to the hog calling state.

Arkansas is sometimes called the Hot Water State. 47 hot springs flow from the southwestern slope of Hot Springs Mountain, at an average temperature of 143 F.

The World's Championship Duck Calling Contest is held annually in Stuttgart.

Origin of state's name: French interpretation of a Sioux word acansa, meaning downstream place.

The Ozark National Forest covers more than one million acres.

Per capita, it is safer to live in New York City than it is to live in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

It is illegal to mispronounce Arkansas while in the state. It must be pronounced "Arkansaw."

Located just outside of Murfreesboro, Crater of Diamonds State Park allows dedicated prospectors to search for precious gems including diamonds, amethyst, garnet, jasper, agate, and quartz.

A southern version of Big Foot, called the Boggy Creek Monster, has been sighted near Fouke, Arkansas. Said to be seven feet tall and hairy all over, it kills chicken, cattle, dogs and livestock.

Hope, Arkansas is the self-proclaimed Watermelon Capital of the World. Oh, yeah, it's also the birth place of ole ex-president Clinton.

An Arkansas law provides that school teachers who bob their hair will not get a raise.
The state prohibits moose from being viewed from airplanes. Furthermore, it is against the law to push a live moose out of a moving airplane.

Flirtation between men and women on the streets of Little Rock can result in a 30-day jail term.

Hey, I never said my relatives were normal! Happy Friday everyone.

Coupon Queen

Last night I had the greatest shopping excursion. After my Relay for Life meeting, I stopped at the grocery to pick up a few sale items. I went to the cash register with the following items:

(2) Healthy Choice Complete Meals
(1) 6-pk of Strawberry Fiber One Yogurt
(1) Premade Package of Guacamole

After sales, in store discounts, and manufacturer coupons I was thrilled to discover my total price was $2.73! I bought all these things for less than $3.00! Go me! Of course, I was so excited that I had to call my mom. She was very proud. She takes full credit for my cheapness.

Me, Myself, and I

Most of my weekend was spent cleaning. I scrubbed, mopped, vacuumed, dusted, swept, filed, and threw away unneeded/unwanted things. After everything was cleaned to my satisfaction, I decided to reward myself with something fun. I settled on the idea of a movie. I figured it would be a nice relaxing reward for all my hard work. After some investigating I discovered my local dollar theater was showing Confessions of a Shopaholic. I was thrilled. I had always intended to see the movie and it was only going cost a dollar!

Sunday after church, I headed to an early showing of Confessions of a Shopaholic, by myself. Yup, I went to the movies by myself. It was my first time, and it wasn’t half bad. Actually, it was great!

I’ve been the movies many times, and I’ve always seen “that person”. You know the person I’m talking about, the one sitting in the back row, with an oversize bucket of popcorn. When I was young and silly, I always felt sorry for “that person”. I would think to myself…they had to go the movies by themselves, that’s so sad. Well, fast-forward about ten years and now I’m “that person”. Except, it wasn’t bad, it didn’t feel awkward, and I actually enjoyed myself. I have to say going to the movies by yourself is pretty empowering; talk about feeling like an independent woman! I mean, if you can go the movies by yourself you can pretty much do anything, right?

It was an enjoyable Sunday afternoon. By the way, my movie only cost $.50! I was pretty pumped at all the money I had saved. I was so pumped that I went to Target and bought a new purse.

Anonymous Truths

Last night I pretended like I was in college. I went to an outdoor concert that started at 10:30. I stood in the mud, listened to country music in a cow pasture, and hung out with crazy drunk college students.
This morning I’m reminded I’m not in college. Due to lack of sleep I will not be posting Friday Fun Facts. HOWEVER, since I’m a rock star blogger, I will leave you with an Anonymous Truths question.

The Rules:
1. All comments should be left anonymously.
2. Just because the comments are anonymous is NOT an excuse to leave an inappropriate or judgmental remark.
3. It is fine for a healthy dialog to take place in the comments section, but keep it clean, impersonal, and on track.
4. If you recognize someone’s answer, please keep it to yourself.
5. This is in NO WAY intended to be offensive or hurtful to anyone.

The Question:
For those that voted for President Obama, are you regretting it now? For everyone else, what do you think of the job he is doing?
