Ramblings...

Rambling: tending to depart from the main point or cover a wide range of subjects.
Folks, enjoy your December Ramblings....

If you haven't noticed it's Christmas time. This can only mean one thing, Christmas movies. Here at Cheap Cable World, I have one channel airing Christmas movies, Lifetime. I must say, this year they have had some good movies. The other night I watched one called Recipe for a Perfect Christmas. It was really cute. It was definitely one of those cheesy love Christmas movies, but whatever. I like cheesy love movies.

Melissa Rivers, Joan Rivers daughter, is dating a porn king. Now a couple things come to mind when I read the article. Number one, when did our society start appointing porn king and queens? I mean, was there a vote? Number two, how does one go about introducing their porn king boyfriend to the family? Call me crazy, but I see that introduction being a bit awkward.

Last weekend, I had my work Christmas party. This marked the second year of attending solo. It wasn't bad. Honestly, it wasn't a horrible experience. Well, until the Party Pics lady asked if I wanted a picture by myself. Why would I want a picture by myself? Why?
Blogger World, I swear some day I will have a legit date to my work Christmas party. I'm adding it to my goal list. It will happen someday!

Time Magazine revealed their Person of the Year. This year they have recognized The Protesters. I'm not for sure what else to say about their choice. Congratulations?

While in Canada, I rediscovered a love. NO...wait. I did not rediscover any type of love. Strike that sentence from the record. What I meant to say is I rediscovered my fondness for the cast iron skillet. When I was younger my grandma would fry eggs and bacon in her cast iron skillet every morning. Folks, you have not experienced eggs unless they have been cooked in a cast iron skillet. No sir!

Pioneer Woman will be releasing a new cookbook. Does this woman ever run out of recipes? Good Lord!

Good news with my Fantasy Football league. I'm in first place. Well, my manager and I are in first place. I'm really proud of this accomplishment. It's my first year to play and I'm kicking butt. It's really fun when you win. The best part about all this...I still do not know a thing about the NFL. Zilch!

Friends, I hope you have enjoyed your Ramblings. Until next time...

OH Canada

Folks, I have returned from Canada, which I will refer to as Land of the Poutine. Do you guys know about the Pountine? No? Well, let me show you...
Pountine: fries topped with brown gravy. This is huge in Canada. HUGE!

Blogger World, I'm happy to report back that I had a good time in Canada. I'm going to be honest, I really thought this trip was going to blow. I'm talking, worst trip ever!!! EVER.

You see, I went to visit my friend Travis. We will call him Canada Travis from here on out. I know, not one of my best nicknames. Canada Travis and I met many, many, many years ago at Camp Lu-Jo KISMIF. We were young high school students who got along great. But as we all know, most everyone changes from high school. Hence why I thought the trip would be a complete failure. I mean, what if Canada Travis turned into a freak show? What if I've become a freak show? Thankfully, neither one of us turned into a freak show. Come to find out, we're both pretty normal and still get along pretty well.

Here are some of the highlights from the trip:

Boston Pizza- I found this funny. Boston is not famous for it's pizza. And apparently, no one at Boston Pizza cared to research American Pizza toppings, because shrimp is not a normal pizza topping.

Calgary (downtown)- Some of the best Christmas lights.
West Edmonton Mall-This mall has EVERYTHING. If you want to visit a water park and then go ice skating...this is the place for you. You know my favorite part of the mall? H&M. Oh and the random pirate ship.
Sylvan Lake-Canada Travis's home. He lives on a lake. I felt the best way to see his town was to walk. He was less than thrilled to walk his town for 3 hours, but he was a good sport.

Snow- I conquered my fear of driving in the snow. I drove three times while in Canada, and it snowed every time. It was the weirdest thing.
Well there you have it, the highlights of Canada. Now, I have a stamp in my passport and another country to check off my list.

Q&A with OK Chick

Blogger World, it's been a mighty long time since I have posted on my blog. The last post mentioned Sister #2 and I seeing Footloose. I believe Footloose can now be found at Redbox.

I can tell my absence has you concerned about my well being. You know, with all the comments of concern. Anyway, to ease your mind I decided to do a little Q&A over my whereabouts.

OK Chick, what have you been doing with all your time?
Working. Attending Jazzercise and running lots of miles. Also I've been watching TV.

Could there be a new someone special in your life?
No.

Really?
Really.

Well that is sad. I mean, good for you.
Right. Next question.

How was your Thanksgiving?
It was great. The Sisters, my dad, and I ran a Turkey Trot. It was the first time all of my sisters have ran with me. It was so fun! Sister #1 beat me, barely. After we ran, we ate a great lunch. My mom cooked an amazing lunch for all of us. I contributed by bringing rolls and salad. I know, big help.

Why can't Sister #1 take a decent picture?
No idea. I was wondering the same thing.

And why are you dressed for winter and Sister #2 looks like she's on the beach?
Again, I have no idea. My sisters are weird. Ok, they are not weird. And truth be told, I was burning up during the race. I wore way too many clothes. I had on 8 layers. Ok fine, maybe it was more like 3 layers.

Are you sure there is no one special in your life?
Yup, I'm sure. No one special

Weekend Update

Monday morning, which means the weekend has come and gone. Sad. It went by so quickly. Where did the time go? I thought to spice up everyone's Monday I would post a Weekend Update.

Movie:
Friday night, I decided Sister #2 needed more 80s culture in her life. You know, she missed out on all the great 80's movies. Sure, I've done my part to introduce her to classics like Footloose and Grease, but is that really enough? Friday night I decided we needed to go see the new Footloose and discuss the awesomeness of this 80's icon. Also, I've been dying to see the new Footloose and it was a good excuse to have a movie seat partner. All-in-all the movie was good. I paid $6 for the flick, and I was not disappointed.

Play:
Broadway show Memphis, which is fabulous! I highly recommend this musical to anyone and everyone!

Dinner:
Dinner at Deep Fork Grill, again fabulous. I had a Groupon. I tell you what...Groupons are the best.

Exercise:
My weekend would not be complete without attending 5 Jazzercise classes. Ok, I'm kidding. I only attended 2 classes this weekend.

Blogger World, that is my weekend in a nut shell. Quick and fun...

Bad case of the Mondays

Blogger World, are you experiencing a bad case of the Mondays?

I have found that this helps.
However, if your boss/company is not down with you destroying office equipment, may I suggest this idea.
Leftover Halloween candy is sure to cure any case of the Mondays.

Promise.

November 2

Today, November 2, is National Cookie Monster Day. I don't know about you, but growing up I was more of a Big Bird girl. However, I was a fan of Sesame Street and feel that Cookie Monster deserves to be recognized on his day. It's only fair.

Did you know:
Chocolate chip are Cookie Monster's favorite.

Oatmeal Cookies are his 2nd favorite.

Cookie Monster was created for a General Foods commercial.

David Rudman officially became Cookie Monster in Sesame Street's 2002 season.

Blogger World, I feel that it is very important that we help Cookie Monster celebrate his special day. Please take note of the picture below. My friend Laura, is demonstrating how to celebrate national Cookie Monster Day.

If you do not have these delicious Pumpkin Whoopie Cookies near by, feel free to substitute with another cookie.
Blogger World, happy National Cookie Monster Day. I hope you all celebrate and remember a bit of your childhood.

Oh, and it's also National Deviled Egg Day.
Feel free to celebrate this holiday as well, but not at the same time.
