Thanksgiving-Part III

Thanksgiving is a holiday that reminds us of our great blessings. I have many blessings and I thank God everyday for those blessings. Here is a small list of the things I am thankful for....

Work friends. Sometimes they just know what you need to get through a work day...You. Thanks for reading and commenting...
Old friends. They understand my quirkiness and still love me...
New friends. They haven't discovered my quirkiness yet...
Pumpkin Whoopie Cookies. No explanation needed.
All of my family. Land of the Hogs will always be my second home....
Especially my parents and sisters. They put up with all of my crap, and still invite me to dinner...

My health. I'm lucky to be able to run all these crazy races and Jazzercise until the moon comes up...

And...

Sister #1's dumb dog. Pepper has been a nice addition to the family, even if it requires all three sisters to care for her.

Happy Thanksgiving Blogger World!

Thanksgiving-Part II

As I posted last week, I plan to give Thanksgiving a few shout outs.

Today's post, is shout out #2.

One reason I love Thanksgiving is because I receive a four day weekend. I don't know about you, but I feel four day weekends are glorious. If I were running the world, we would have them more often...just FYI.

When I am given a four day weekend, I strive to be very productive. I clean my house, cook lots of food, run errands, workout, and iron clothes. Seriously, I only iron on four day weekends, this explains why I hardly ever iron. This year is no different. I plan to utilize my four days, in an extremely productive way....

If anyone needs me, you might start at the theaters.

The City of Brotherly Love

Once upon a time there were four girls....
One afternoon they decided, via email, it would be fun to run a half marathon in Philadelphia. After months and months of training, only 2 out of the 4 were able to run the half marathon.

However, all four girls arrived in Philly prepared to have a great weekend. The city had more to offer than just a race.

There were beautiful churches...

The bell....
The oldest Post Office in the US....

A ghost tour in a graveyard...
Rocky outside the Art Musuem....
And the best darn food I have ever eaten....

After two days of exploring Philly and tasting some of the most delicious foods, the four girls returned safely home.

And they lived happily ever after!

Well, until Monday morning when they realized their work clothes no longer fit.

But they didn't care, because they had a fun weekend!

The End

The family of three potatoes

Thanksgiving is so close I can taste the food. Can't you?

I love Thanksgiving. It's one of my favorite holidays, possibly my favorite.

You know, I kind of feel sorry for Thanksgiving. It's the lost holiday. The rushed holiday.

This year I'm going to dedicate a few posts to Thanksgiving. I want Thanksgiving to know I care.

Today's post is about food, which you all know I enjoy.

My family, like most, always has way too much food on Thanksgiving Day. This is why I run a race before I eat lunch. Our lunch menu usually includes your traditional dressing, salad, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, rolls, turkey, and three different types of potatoes. We have mashed potatoes, my aunt Betty's potatoes, and sweet potatoes. My favorite Thanksgiving food is the sweet potatoes, with my aunt's potatoes in a close second.

But the sweet potatoes are amazing. My mom puts the tiny marshmallows on top of the sweet potatoes. Does your mom put marshmallows on top? Some people put pecans on top of the sweet potatoes, instead of tiny marshmallows. But I don't like pecans, so my mom will put pecans on one half and marshmallows on the other half. Folks, that's some strong love.

Doesn't that look delicious?

Today, I would like to hear about your favorite Thanksgiving dish? Come on, play along. It's boring to just hear about my favorite Thanksgiving dish.

From bad to good

Tonight I had a Finance test.

I spent days studying for the test. I wanted/needed to make a good grade.

I'm pretty sure I failed the test.

But I am not going to worry about a stupid Finance test. I mean, really, who needs three degrees? Isn't that being a bit selfish? Each day I'm becoming more content with just two degrees.

Despite my rocky Thursday evening I have good things happening to me.

Obviously, this will not be my family's table at Thanksgiving. Who has a table set up like this? Ok, besides Sandra Lee? My family is lucky if the plates and cups match.

But, as you can see...I have fun things planned in the future.

Ha Finance! Who needs it!

Confessions

Folks, it's confession time....

My dream job is to be a food critic, and to work at Sonic headquarters. Of course, not at the same time. Although, you might be able to be a food critic at Sonic headquarters.

I think I like to overload my life to see when/how I'll crack. This week I cracked. I apologize to anyone that felt the brunt of my crack. HA! That's kind of a funny sentence when read out of content.

Thursday is my favorite day of the week.

I'm a fast walker. Even when I try to walk slower, because someone is walking slow in front of me, I'm still walking faster than the average person.

The past couple days, I've started my day off with a bit of Jesus. It really helps my day go smoother. And by smoother I mean, I don't scream, kick, or punch someone.

I hate cats.

They make me sneeze.

Ok, I believe that's all the confessions I have right now.

WANTED: A Date

Blogger World, Christmas is right around the corner. Do you realize this? If not, you should.

Tonight, I come to you expressing some concern for myself. Yes, I realize my last post was also a dramatic expression of concern, for myself, but hear me out on this concern.

My work Christmas party is also right around the corner. The past few years, my wonderful friend MrT has attended the party with me. He's the prefect date. He's pretty, social, fun, and enjoys meeting new people. See, perfect date! And, he's been my perfect date for four years-longest relationship I've ever had.

But like all good things, they must come to an end. This year MrT has informed me that he cannot attend my work Christmas party. Never mind the fact, that I reserved him almost 2 months advance. But now, I'm dateless to my work Christmas party.

I know what you are thinking...OK Chick just go by yourself, it's not a big deal. I agree with you, it's not a big deal. I go to many things by myself, seeing that a single gal. However, I'm not a fan of sitting at a table, by myself, with 4-5 other couples. Of course, my work friends are great and would never make me feel uncomfortable, so it really wouldn't be that bad to go solo to this party. Still, it would nice to have a seat partner. Don't you agree? I knew you would.

Fine Friends of the Internet, I'm on a mission. A mission to find a date. I have 3 weeks to find a seat partner. I'm sure this will be a challenging mission, but I never back down from a challenge. I have full confidence that I will be able to find a seat partner. If not, I'll just buy myself a cute outfit and sit with 4-5 other couples.

Thoughts on a Monday night

Have I mentioned that I'm running a half marathon in about 3 weeks? Did I also mention that my training schedule has been crazy? And that the most I've ran is 7.25 miles?

Can you here the panic in my voice?

No?

Well, listen closer because I AM FREAKING OUT!

I'm running this race with three other people. My friend KC, and two of her friends. I've never met one of the girls. I'm going to make quite the first impression on my new friend, if she has to carry me on the airplane after we run.

In the effort to not embarrass myself, I'm declaring the next three weeks............
Well, I'm not for sure what I'm declaring the next three weeks. I just know I'll be running frequently, and I will probably have sore legs, and I will be using Icy Hot every night.

But on the upside, I have discovered a new drink at Starbucks. Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. Of course, I just Googled the wonderful drink and discovered the calorie count. This night just gets better, and better. *Sigh*

If you would excuse me, I'm going to go run and dream about Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.
