Intelligence for Your Life

Blogger World, do you know who I like?

John Tesh.

Do you remember him? He was an Entertainment Tonight Host, who became a piano player, and then transformed into a radio talk show host.

Here in the Windy State, Oklahoma not Illinois, John's show airs in the evening. Most nights I hear bits and pieces of his show, and always walk away learning something. He has great random information. He really does, I'm not being sarcastic. Here's an example of the random facts I've learned from John.

1.Random Fact on Love-The Reason I Can't Get a Date
Men typically wait until they're financially stable to take on a wife and family - and since they aren't getting the jobs anymore, they aren't getting the wife, either. Plus, men are being bombarded with slacker role models. The typical guy you see in movies and on sitcoms is an over-grown frat boy with no direction in life, and the women aren't waiting around for him to grow up. Now, can I get an Amen? I would like to give a disclaimer: Bone and DJ are both good guys and do have jobs.

2. Random Fact on Travel- Frustration on an Airplane
More and more travelers say they’re sick of sitting next to an overweight passenger who bulges into their seat. Legal experts say you have every right to complain, because when you buy your airline ticket, you’re entitled to 100% of your seat, not the 70% or 60% left after an obese traveler spills into it. In fact, it’s against the law for you to share even 1% of your seat. Today most airlines charge obese passengers for two tickets if they can’t fit into one seat with the seat belt buckled and armrests down.

3. Random Fact on Health-Allergies
Wind. Dr. Bill Sears is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California School of Medicine. He says the pollen that causes most eye, nose, and lung problems – like oak and ragweed - are very light and easily distributed by the wind. Your best bet: Stay indoors on windy days - especially in the morning, because that’s when plants release pollen. You can track your local levels of airborne irritants on the website Pollen.com.

4. Random Fact on Weight Loss-How to lose 5lbs in one week
  • Make sure one of your meals each day is just raw vegetables.
  • Don’t drink anything carbonated – it can bloat you.
  • Drink a ton of water – then drink some more. It’ll help keep you full and prevent you from retaining water.
  • Minimize carbs – no potatoes, rice or pasta.
  • Walk for 20 minutes twice a day.
As you can see the man knows everything! I highly recommend adding a bit of John Tesh in your life. I guarantee you will walk away learning something new.

1- I dated the overgrown frat boy posing as a grown up last year. Never. again.

3- Allergies- Studies show that in developing countries where hookworm is prevalent, people do not suffer from allergies. Some people are now using the unconventional method world-wide. http://www.radiolab.org/2009/sep/07/ Take that John Tesh. :)

Ok, I totally don't know the proper response etiquette to comment questions. Do I answer the question on my own comments? Do I answer them on the questioners comments? Do I e-mail? I need help with this.

Anyway, the boots came from Amy Kelly. I do not own themed clothing. She, however, owns every kind of themed clothing imaginable.

I agree with #1 slightly... not having a job or their own place doesn't prevent the over-grown frat boys from dating and trying to score. But a guy who is serious has a job and is already "feathering his nest".

#2 when they charge the larger person for two seats...does that mean that they did not sell the second seat to another passenger? Because I think they still sell it. I'm so thankful that my family now takes up an entire row.

#3 I never had a problem with allergies until we were in Korea and bombarded by all the pollen they have there (they LOVE flowering trees & shrubs!). Seriously, we moved from WY with cottonwood trees and no problems, but when we returned to the states we were allergic to the cottonwoods. However, consuming local honey can help you overcome those type allergies.

hummm #4 sounds drastic.

I really hate overweight passengers on planes. I mean, I can't pack more than 20 kgs in my bag, but they can weigh way more than 20kgs heavier than me and then take up half my space?

I sat next to someone flying to MIA a couple of years ago and she was so big they had to give her a special seat belt and she couldn't get the arm rest down between us. I broke my headphones (the expensive noise cancelling ones) just trying to get out of the seat. She was lovely, but it meant I was squished for 5 1/2 hours. They NEED two seats for them to be comfortable.

I can't believe I missed this! If I ever make a personal ad, I'm using that.

Don't forget, Bone is also incredibly hygenic.
