Safe the Earth, Plant a Tree

Today, is Earth Day. I found this great list of easy ways to go green. Check out the list and see if you can add any of these suggestions to your life. I think it's important we try to take care of the earth. The earth isn't our permanent home, but we should keep it clean while we are here. We keep our houses clean, so why wouldn't we keep the earth clean and green? Come on people, it's not rocket science!
Last year I added reusable grocery bags to my life. I love them! As a bag lover, I'm always looking for excuses to buy cute bags. Hopefully, you can find something earth friendly to add to your life.

I never buy the reusable bags, as some of them are made from worse things than the plastic bags are and I'm too lazy to do the research to find out which ones are good to buy and which aren't, but I never throw away my plastic bags just after a trip somewhere. They can be used for some many things: packing for boxes you send, garbage cans, etc.

I think the #1 thing I'd like to see is manufacturers use less packaging!!! I recently helped the munchkins open toys and every time I do, I think to myself, "Does a child's toy really need all this packaging?!?!" I mean, should an adult really be needed to open one? lol

I actually switched to the reusable bags after my milk ripped the plastic bad and busted in my garage!! I like them because you can fit way more into them and they don't break!!
I also just adjusted my parent's fridge to the recommended temps. You are welcome mom and dad!!

Hey TC: you can get canvas bags at Walmart & any craft place. I have a bunch of them and love that they hold so much...sometimes too much as the baggers seem to think it's a game to find out how much they can fit in there...I've had to remind them that I have to carry the thing!!!

I also bought a bunch of cloth dish towels to use instead of paper towels in the kitchen. I don't use nearly as many paper towels now. YAY!

oh and make sure you put something in your plastic bags before you throw them away. I see so many empty plastic bags floating down the street after trash day. :(

I use the resuable bags but also get plastic bags sometimes since I use them for garbage. I figure it's better than buying bags made just for garbage disposal.....

That's exactly what I do, Ally. Those plastic bags make great garbage liners.

Low-flow shower heads? I don't like the sound of that.
