Weekend Update

Boy, do I have an exciting Weekend Update for you guys! It involves- Chai, shopping, airports, food, more airports, and seeing two old friends- Tabs and Kyle. Oh, and it all took place in Portland.

Friday
Friday night Sister #1 and I spent our evening in OKC, Salt Lake City, and finally ended up in Portland. After an hour layover in Salt Lake City we finally arrived in P-Town at 10:30pm, their time, which made it 12:30am my time. Needless to say, I was tired when we landed in Portland. However, I quickly perked up when our friends greeted us at the airport and took us to a cool coffeehouse called Pied Cow.

Saturday
Not wanting to waste any P-Town time, we woke up early for some quality shopping. Since, no one can shop on an empty stomach; we stopped at this cute little breakfast place. Actually, someone recommended we try the place, so don’t think we just stumble across the establishment.
Most of Saturday was shopping with our friend Kyle. I think it’s safe to say that our favorite store was the Columbia Employee Store. As I’ve said many times before, it’s all about who you know when it comes to retail. Only the special people get into Columbia Employee Store. Ok, not really, well kind of really. Anyway, I bought so many great things at this store. As we were walking into the store I looked at Sister #1 and said… “Sister #1, don’t hold back. If you see something you might want, get it. We may never come here again.” I’m sure you’re thinking…what’s so great about the Columbia Employee Store? Well, only that all Columbia and Mountain Hard Wear apparel are least 75% off, which makes everything dirt cheap. We bought lots of warm winter/ski apparel; because you know it gets sub-below zero here in OKC.

Saturday night was more go-go. We met another friend, Tabs, for a night out on the town. We started the evening at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Trail Blazers game, then headed to dinner at Montage, and ended the evening at another cool coffeehouse called Rimsky’s. This coffeehouse is one of my favorites. It’s where I drank Chai for the first time many years ago, and they also have a table that slowly moves up and down. Really it does, we sat at the table.

Sunday
We started off the day with church. We attended the church Donald Miller attends. No sighting of the famous author, but it’s always good to attend a new church.
The rest of Sunday was walking around Washington Park and Pittcock Mansion. This was a first for Sister #1 and I. We were able to get some great pics of Mt. Hood and Portland.
The final event for the weekend was dinner with our new friends and Kyle at a seafood restaurant on the river. The food was great and the scenery was nice.

But sadly, our fun weekend had to end. Monday we flew out of P-Town and came back to The Land of the Wind. Of course, we had to stop at a few places before we could get back. You know Minneapolis and Detroit, because they are so close to OKC! But on the upside, I did rack up the frequently flier miles.

sounds like a fun weekend! I wish I could go to that Columbia store. I should seriously check out our outlet mall and see what stores they have left...it's been years now.
and while I would be grumpy about that detour on the way home, I guess miles do help!

Wow, your deals on Colombia sound great as did your whole weekend. Fun!

I once saw Colombia products in Sri Lanka on sale for like $30 USD from what I remember.... they manufacture there and I really regret not getting one as it was soooo hot I just couldn't face even trying it on.
