State of Emergency

It’s day number two of “Oklahoma-State of Emergency”. This morning I had to put on my heavy boots and 80 layers of clothes all for my job. It stinks being an adult. Also, it’s in times like this where I kick myself for not being a teacher, or just staying in college forever! Most of the schools in the state are out due to crap weather, which means kids are doing fun things like this picture.

Oklahoma usually receives one huge ice storm that is filled with sleet and snow. This week is our yearly ice storm. The storm blew in on Monday and didn’t stop until last night. Yesterday my boss had a heart and closed the office. It was wonderful. Of course, I didn’t receive word about the office closing until I was- showered, dressed, and walking out the door to come into work. I was furious for the late notice for a few seconds…until I remembered I could go back to bed. Then it was water under the bridge and I was back to loving my boss.

I spent most of yesterday cleaning and cooking. It’s a favorite past time when I’m stuck inside the house. After every inch of my house had been dusted, vacuumed, wiped down, or scrubbed it was time to relax. Last week Sister #1 and I discovered a new channel, Bravo. Apparently, it was included in our cheap, non-exciting, cable package. Now, it’s not TLC or The Food Network by any means, but it is something besides crappy Lifetime Movies. As I was checking out Bravo’s selection I started watching a show called The Real Housewives of Orange County. OH.MY.WORD! I’m hooked on the show. Blogger World, I watched 4 straight hours of this show. Don’t judge! I was stuck in my house all day. Bravo kept spitting out episode after episode and I kept watching. The show fascinates me to no end. I mean, these ladies have NO concept of the real world! It’s amazing. One of the ladies, Vicki, has a job and I guess she’s really good at her job, but they never show her working. I think she does insurance or something. All I know is Vicki gets hurt all the time and her kids are semi-productive. The other ladies are stay at home moms, but they never stay at home with their kids. They’re always going shopping, visiting the spa, or going to lunch with each other. Oh and when they meet for lunch, they just talk about the person that couldn’t make the lunch; which really isn’t too far from “real girl world.” But I love the show. I just added it to my Top 10 Shows List. Sadly, to make room for this shown someone had get the boot. It was a hard decision but I finally decided on a show. Peace out Grey’s Anatomy…you were fun for a few years.

Could you have taken a day off to stay home? I've done that before, when I've felt like the weather is too bad to go out in but my office didn't close.

what an interesting way to enjoy your day off. I usually just catch the commercials for HWOC. I've seen the NY version once. It is just too surreal for me. I think that the producers just show the crazy part and not the real living these folks do.

TC- I could have done that, but I hate wasting my vacation time. Also, I was ready to get out of the house.

Scotty- In no order... CSI:Las Vegas, Brothers and Sisters, Eli Stone, Privileged, What Not to Wear, Private Practice, Diet Tribe, Biggest Loser, 90210, Orange County Housewives.
