Blogger World, tonight I’m getting creative in the kitchen. A million years ago, I read a series of books called The Savannah Series. It’s a cute chick-lit series that takes place in Savannah, Georgia. In all three books the main character makes reference to her favorite breakfast food- Biscuits and Chocolate Gravy. I’ve been dying to know what Biscuits and Chocolate Gravy taste like, so tonight I’m going to try to be Paula Dean. You know she's my cooking hero, and everything she makes is amazing,?Well, I think it's amazing.
I will keep you posted on my end results. I KNOW you guys will be on pins and needles the whole day and night wondering how my Biscuits and Chocolate Gravy turned out.
The recipe:
Chocolate Gravy
1/3 cup sugar
1 & 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 & 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
1cup milk
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together sugar, flour, cocoa, milk, and water. While stirring constantly, bring to a boil. Continue stirring until thickened. Stir in butter and vanilla.
The Hopeful End Result:

Yes please. YUM.
Can I come to dinner?
Wow!! That is a combination of my two favorite foods. Biscuits and gravy and chocolate!! Looks and sounds super yummy!!
Oh...my...Wow!
Whenever we succumb to the Colonel and get KFC we often wind up with a bag of biscuits, which we slather in honey and eat for dessert. Now biscuits and honey is always good, but biscuits w/ chocolate gravy look even better! I think we have a new recipe to try next time the Colonel comes a callin' ;)
well I love biscuits and gravy...so chocolate gravy must be good.
when's dinner?
I've actually never had chocolate gravy, though I've heard several people talk about it. A friend of mine was making chocolate gravy and biscuits a couple of weeks ago and invited me over for dinner, but I didn't go for some reason.
Let us know how it turns out, Paula.
Hmm. Oddly this combo doesn't sound good to me. I could just eat the chocolate gravy straight from the bowl.
Isn't she known for using ridiculous amounts of butter? I may be wrong.
Scotty, if it's real Butter (and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter is not real butter) then there's almost no such thing as "ridiculous amounts" of butter.
Unfortunately Real Butter® is hard to come by (or just plain expensive), these days.
