Ramblings...

Blogger World, I’m afraid I have no inspiring words for you today. However, I do have lots of random thoughts in this cranium of mine. Therefore, I felt a Ramblings post was needed. Actually, my cousin just emailed me and said she needed something to read, which is a big hint for “post something on your blog”.
SO for the cuz here’s some Ramblings….

Swingline, the stapler people, is running a promotion right now. Customers can fill out a brief survey and receive a free stapler. All you have to do is log onto their website and fill out their survey. No, this is not a joke! If you need the stapler go take the survey.

Can I just say that it is beautiful outside? I believe it’s 75 degrees outside, and the wind is barely blowing. Strike that last sentence. The wind is blowing. But the sun is out and it’s 75 degrees. I’m going running when I get off work. It’s a shame I will be sitting in a classroom for 3.5 hours this evening. I know, I think it sucks too.

Speaking of running…. I got new running shoes last night. Here’s a picture of my new shoes. Well this isn’t the exact shoe I purchased, but you get my drift.

The new shoes were purchased for the ½ Marathon I am running in April. Hopefully, the shoes will make me lighting fast. Highly doubtful.

I read this today….
Next up in our outer space endeavors: a paper airplane? Scientists in Japan are working on an experiment to send an origami airplane from space back to the planet, hoping to learn from its re-entry journey into the earth's atmosphere. Scientists spent 18 months perfecting the shape and form of the paper shuttle, which is crafted from a single, uncut sheet of paper .
I just thought it was random and odd.

Today, I am wearing the world’s most uncomfortable shoes. I have 3 band-aids on each foot. In my opnion, no shoe is worth 6 band-aids. I know a lot of women would disagree, but I don’t care. I’m in some serious pain right now! OH, and if it wasn’t bad enough to be in pain, I looked down this afternoon to see that these shoes make my left foot look fat. I wish, I were kidding.

Well this is all the Ramblings I have today. I’m off to try out my new running shoes.

Weekend Update with Pictures

This year my bracket is total crap so there will be no updates on how well I’m doing. Stupid Georgia! Oh and don’t even get me started on OU. They never make it past the first round, and this year they decide to come prepared! Anyway, I thought I’d do a special Weekend Update. This is a Weekend Update with pictures! This weekend was definitely a Weekend Update worthy weekend. This weekend had a birthday, Easter, basketball, pedicures, and running! See, I told you it was exciting.

Friday

I had a relaxing Friday. I slept in, got a pedicure, went shopping, and ate with my family.

Friday night some friends and I went out to celebrate my birthday. Yes, my birthday was this weekend. Saturday I turned the big 2-7! Here are some pictures from the evening….

The family celebrated my birthday. Check out the cake my mom and Sister #2 made me. After I ate the bottom left corner I went and ran 8 miles. No, I really did. No one believes me, but I promise I ran all 8 miles.

March Mayhem

Don’t you just love March? I do. I love March for a couple reasons.

The main reason…March Madness! I LOVE the NCAA Tournament. I love filling out the bracket. I love watching all the basketball games on TV. I find the whole thing exciting!

I’ve been a fan of college basketball since I was a little kid. I guess I can thank my dad for this. When I was in elementary school my dad took Sister #1 and I downtown to watch the Razorbacks practice. That year the first round of the tournament was being held in OKC. The practices were open to the public and my dad wanted to go see the Razorbacks practice. Hey, where did you think my love for the Hogs came from? Anyway, my dad decided to take his girls downtown to show us how a real team played basketball. It was the greatest hour of my life. When Arkansas came out to practice my dad leaned over to Sister #1 and I and said, “watch this.” The words hadn’t even left his mouth before I realized what he meant. The Razorbacks did something crazy. They didn’t practice plays or do drill; they had a dunk contest. The night before the first round of the NCAA tournament and this team spent their court time goofing off with the crowd. They were dunking backwards, sideways, and over people’s backs. By the end of their practice everyone was cheering and up on their feet.

When I thought the night couldn’t get better, it did. The Razorbacks were walking off the court and heading to the locker room; when the last player in the line realized he had a basketball still in his hand. Instead of throwing the ball to the side, he threw up a backwards hook shot. Even to this day, I’ve never seen anything greater than this shot. I guess it’s great because he made the shot. As the crowd was going crazy, my dad looked down at us and smiled. He didn’t even have to tell us that the Razorbacks were going to win the whole tournament. Sister # 1 and I realized we’d just watched the Tournament Champs practice. And you know what? They won the whole tournament that year!

So for all you other bracket junkies out there…. here’s to you!

Daily Google

This morning I woke up to rain hitting my window. It’s hard to get up on rainy mornings. Why doesn’t it rain on the weekend, when I can actually sleep? This morning, I didn’t know if I was going to be able to function enough to get in the shower. Needless to say, it was a rough morning at my house. But after I got some Starbucks Non-Fat Chai in my body, I was ready for work. The first thing I do when I get to my office is turn on the radio. This morning my daily radio station was playing Blame It on the Rain. No, I'm not kidding. It took me a good 3 minutes to realize they were playing Blame It on the Rain. Hey, I hadn’t finished the Chai so I was still a little out of it! ANYWAY, the song got me thinking…. whatever happen to those guys. So naturally, I Googled Milli Vanilli because I Google everything! I thought I’d share my Daily Google with you, because I know everyone what’s to know what happen to Milli Vanilli.

First of all, I discovered that their real names are- Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan. I had no clue. I thought one’s name was Milli and one’s name was Vanilli. Actually, I hadn’t put much thought into their real names. I was like five, or maybe ten, when their songs were popular. Also, I have no idea who’s who on the real names. Why don’t we say the one on the left is Rob and the one of the right is Fabrice?

Ok, so here’s what I found out about Rob/Milli and Fabrice/Vanilli….

Rob called reporters and police to his hotel room in Los Angeles where he was threatening to kill himself.

The duo reformed again as Rob and Fab in 1993 and again, the record tanked, selling a mere 2,000 copies despite an appearance on The Arsenio Hall Show.

Rob hit the skids in earnest, entering various drug rehabs and having a string of run-ins with the law for charges such as assault. He was found dead in a Frankfurt hotel room in 1998.

Fabrice Morvan lives in New York and continues to pursue a solo career.
