Saturday is Microwave Oven Day. Blogger World, I don't know about you, but I use my microwave very often. Actually, I used about an hour ago to warm up my lunch; like I said I use it often. A couple facts on the Microwave Oven....
1. Discovered by Percy Spencer while he was building magnetrons for radar sets with the company Raytheon.
2. The first microwave oven was 6 ft all and weighted over 700lbs, and it cost $5,000. Geez, that's a down payment for a Ford Focus!
3. The first food cooked in the microwave was popcorn.
4. It's estimated that 90% of American households own microwave ovens.
Now folks, this is why you read my Friday Fun Facts; you just never know what kind of crap I'm going to post. Happy Friday!

And the Schmidt's are some of those 10% who do not have a microwave oven and do just alright!
I've figured out how to manage without my microwave...but nights like tonight would have been impossible without one. I reheated the mac & cheese...heated the cooked ham bought at the store...cooked the veggies and WhaLah! Dinner is served in less than 15 min.
Love my microwave!
Did ya see that the guy who invented the microwave melted a chocolate bar in his pocket? I wonder if he melted his DNA a bit too? hee hee couldn't resist!
Anonymous- I thought of you guys when I read that fact. :)
Renee- HAHA! Your meal sounds wonderful. I love mac-n-cheese with ham. Maybe I'll make that tomorrow night. I have a ham that needs to be cooked.
I *might* have some issues making microwave popcorn.
I wonder who the first person to put foil in the microwave was. Surely it wasn't me!
Also, sorry about our National Championship date. Looks like your team held up its end of the bargain, but my team didn't.
