Day # 16 of the rain
Yes, still raining. But even though it’s been raining for 16 days, it doesn’t mean that my life must stop. Nope. Here are some thoughts for this gloomy Thursday. I really only have two.
Tonight I’m going to see Oklahoma. I’m referring to the musical, not my wonderful state. The Roommate and I decided to do summer season tickets again. Last summer we purchased summer season tickets to our Civic Center. We had a blast watching plays like- Fiddler on the Roof and Beauty and the Beast. Since last year was so much fun, we knew we had to renew our summer season tickets.
Our play line up for the summer is: Oklahoma, Evita, Singing in the Rain, and Once Upon this Island. Also, The Roommate and I added High School Musical to our season ticket package. We’re way excited about High School Musical. Yes, I know I sound like I’m 14!

I just read that the Spice Girls are going to do a reunion tour. I’m not going to lie to you folks. I want to go. I think it’d be fun. It looks like it’s going to be a short tour so you better get your tickets. Here are the lucky cities:

Come to Oklahoma, the new Seattle
Well, it's day number 15 with rain. It has rained 15 consecutive days here in Oklahoma. No joke.
If you watch Good Morning America you saw Oklahoma on this morning. Meterologist Sam Champion from GMA paid OKC a visit to report about the heavy rain, which is resulting in floods. SEE I'm not the only one that thinks Oklahoma's weather is weird, a guy from NYC agrees.

Hey, Hollywood star, I saw you the other night at the Academy Awards and thought I would write you a letter to see how things are going and talk about some stuff I've had on my mind. I know you've been doing pretty well lately and making a lot of movies, and I'm sure you're really busy. If you don't have time to write back, don't worry, I won't be offended. After all, I know you have more important things to be doing. I know this because I read the other day that you and some other popular movie stars were petitioning the president to do more about the genocide in Africa. You especially seemed to be focusing on a region called Darfur. You said that hundreds of thousands of people have died from fighting, and that millions more are starving and that the American government should do more to stop this from happening.
I agree with you, Celebrity. America has an obligation as a major player in world affairs to help bring these problems to an end. You mentioned that America should spend more money there and that the millions it spends now is not enough. You also encouraged normal Americans to open up their wallets and give all they can for those suffering to help bring food to this impoverished area. You inspired me so much, that I got my checkbook out right then and there and decided to give what money I could to help alleviate the pain those people in Africa are going through. After all, we are a very rich country compared to the rest of the world.
I was ready to start writing, but the only problem was that I didn't know how much money I should give. I considered this for a few minutes. I thought that maybe I would see how much money you gave, but then you and I both know I don't make the money that you make. I also thought that maybe I would give the same percentage of my money as you give, but then that also poses a little problem. If you made $10 million a year, and gave 50 percent of what you made, then you would still have $5 million left. I make $40,000 a year, and if I give 50 percent, well, it's hard to live on that.
So, I finally came to a solution. You seemed really passionate about this problem in Africa, so I'm sure you're giving as much as you can to solve this. I mean, I know you realize that if you and your famous movies gave a few million dollars (a large sum) each to the cause out of your wallets (a much larger sum), then you could almost double what is being done now!
Knowing this, I decided to see how you live your life, and in what state you have placed yourself in order to give all that you can. This way, I can live the same as you, and give the rest to charity.
I know you're a movie star and everything, but from what you said about the suffering in Africa, I don't know how you could live the luxurious lifestyle common to most in your line of work. Honestly, all I really need is an example to follow. This makes it easier for people like me to do what is right. Did you know that if you donated $15 million of a $20 million pay check to World Vision, you could feed 500,000 children for an entire month? Well, when I saw that you live in the lap of luxury, I figured I would hold off on my giving until I am a little better off. In fact, I'm going to start giving right after my wife and I buy our new car. I mean, I won't ever be as rich as you, so I'm sure this is OK. I know that if you, who is passionate about the people of Africa, can have millions of dollars at your disposal and still have a clear conscience, well, then I'm definitely alright with my decision.

Top 25 TV Moments
This morning on the radio the DJs were talking about USA Today’s Top 25 List. I did not know what they were talking about so I got online and checked it out for myself. Here’s what I found out…
The Nation's Newspaper turns 25 on Sept. 15, 2007. To help celebrate, we'll revisit those years with 25 lists over the next 25 weeks.
It’s actually pretty cool. They are making list of Top 25s for a variety of topics. One of my favorites is Top 25 Meltdowns. Wouldn’t you love to be on that list?
This week they are covering Top 25 Music Moments. I looked over the list and decided that didn’t interest me as much as one a few weeks ago- Top 25 TV Moments. Hello! I’m all over TV moments. Here’s their list:

2. Fox Network is born (1986)
3. The Oprah Winfrey Show (1986)
4. The Sopranos (1999)
5. NYPD Blue (1993)
6. The OJ Trail
7. The Simpsons (1989)
8. The Cosby Show (1984)

10. Johnny Carson’s last show (1992)
11. Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction (2004)

This list turned out to be more of Top 25 Shows, mixed in with some moments; but go with what they gave us.
Some things I would change on their list….
-Johnny Carson’s last show should have been before Real World. I know Real World started this Reality TV trend that we now call prime TV; but it’s Johnny Carson. Show the man some respect and put him before whinny 20 something year olds.
-The Sopranos? The show started in 99’ and ended this year. It did end this year, right? I’m not buying it as #4 quality. How was it a moment?
-Seinfeld. Number 16! Have they watched Seinfeld? It was a show about nothing and we watched it for ten years. It should be in top 10. Seinfeld is a classic. Do they not realize they added words to our normal conversation?
Some things I would add…
-Friends. If Dawson’s Creek made the list you better add Friends. How could they not add Friends? They must have been in a cave when every female was wearing the “Rachel hairdo”?
-How about the Challenger Disaster? It happened in 1986, I was in kindergarten. I remember watching it in the school library.
-Columbine School shooting?
You know, I’m seeing they missed a lot of moments. I’m going to compile my own list. I’ll have it up in the next days. Stay tuned.
